Henry Lawson Way
The Henry Lawson Way is a sealed rural road that links Forbes, situated on the Newell Highway, to Young, situated on the Olympic Highway in the central western region of New South Wales, Australia. The road is named in honour of Henry Lawson (1867 – 1922), an Australian writer and poet, who was born in a town on the Grenfell goldfields, located adjacent to the modern-day rural road. Route The road commences in Forbes at a junction with the Gooloogong-Forbes Road (Lachlan Valley Way). It continues south over relatively flat countryside, crossing the Bundaburrah Creek and Ooma Creek, before it forms concurrency with the Mid-Western Highway west of . The concurrent road heads east into the town of Grenfell, where the concurrency terminates as the Henry Lawson Way heads south (on Weddin Street) towards Young through highly undulating countryside. Lachlan Valley Way is a New South Wales country road running from Booligal to north of Yass. Route Lachlan Valley Way commences at the intersection with Cobb Highway in Booligal and heads in a north-easterly direction for about to Hillston. It then follows the Kidman Way (B87) for about before turning off to the right and proceeding a further to Lake Cargelligo. From there it continues to the north and east through Euabalong to Condobolin. This section of road has three named parts, from west to east. Henry Lawson
Henry Archibald Hertzberg Lawson (17 June 1867 – 2 September 1922) was an Australian writer and bush poet. Along with his contemporary Banjo Paterson, Lawson is among the best-known Australian poets and fiction writers of the colonial period and is often called Australia's "greatest short story writer". A vocal nationalist and republican, Lawson regularly contributed to '' The Bulletin'', and many of his works helped popularise the Australian vernacular in fiction. He wrote prolifically into the 1890s, after which his output declined, in part due to struggles with alcoholism and mental illness. At times destitute, he spent periods in Darlinghurst Gaol and psychiatric institutions. After he died in 1922 following a cerebral haemorrhage, Lawson became the first Australian writer to be granted a state funeral. He was the son of the poet, publisher and feminist Louisa Lawson. The present highway network in New South Wales, Australia was established in August 1928 when the Country Roads Board (the predecessor of the Department of Main Roads, Roads & Traffic Authority and Roads & Maritime Services) superseded the 1924 main road classifications and established the basis of the existing New South Wales main road system. Hilltops Council is a local government area in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia. This area was formed on 12 May 2016 from the merger of Boorowa Council, Harden Shire and Young Shire. The local government area covers much the same area as the Hilltops wine region. Cowra is a small town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. It is the largest population centre and the council seat for the Cowra Shire, with a population of 9,863. Cowra is located approximately above sea level, on the banks of the Lachlan River, in the Lachlan Valley. Caragabal, New South Wales
Caragabal ( ) is a village and locality in New South Wales 413 kilometres west of Sydney. It is situated on flat country in the Weddin Shire, just beyond where the last slopes of the Great Dividing Range meet the plains of the Central West. The Barbingal Creek runs, after rain, along the south edge of the village parallel to the Mid-Western Highway. The village of Quandialla is 22 kilometres to the south.
