Henry Kamm
Henry Kamm (born June 3, 1925, in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland)) was a correspondent for ''The New York Times''. He reported for the ''Times'' from Southeast Asia (based in Bangkok), Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 1969, Kamm won the George Polk Award for Foreign Reporting. George Polk Award
The George Polk Awards in Journalism are a series of American journalism awards presented annually by Long Island University in New York in the United States. A writer for Idea Lab, a group blog hosted on the website of PBS, described the award as "one of only a couple of journalism prizes that means anything". History The awards were established in 1949 in memory of George Polk, a ''CBS'' correspondent who was murdered in 1948 while covering the Greek Civil War (1946–49). The Middle East ( ar, الشرق الأوسط, ISO 233: ) is a geopolitical region commonly encompassing Arabia (including the Arabian Peninsula and Bahrain), Asia Minor (Asian part of Turkey except Hatay Province), East Thrace (European part of Turkey), Egypt, Iran, the Levant (including Ash-Shām and Cyprus), Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq), and the Socotra Archipelago (a part of Yemen).
