Henry Ibbotson
Henry Ibbotson (1816? – 12 February 1886 in York), was an English botanist. Ibbotson was a schoolmaster successively at Mowthorpe, near Castle Howard, at Dunnington, and at Grimthorpe, near Whitwell, all in Yorkshire. He was an industrious student of botany, but passed his last years in great penury, earning a scanty living by digging officinal roots for the druggists. Ibbotson was an active contributor to Baines's ''"Flora of Yorkshire"'' (1840), to its supplement (1854), and to John Gilbert Baker John Gilbert Baker (13 January 1834 – 16 August 1920) was an English botanist. His son was the botanist Edmund Gilbert Baker (1864–1949). Biography Baker was born in Guisborough in North Yorkshire, the son of John and Mary (née Gilbert ...'s "''North Yorkshire"'' (1863). Mowthorpe
Terrington is a large village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated in the Howardian Hills, west of Malton. History The village is mentioned four times in the ''Domesday Book'' as ''Teurintone''. The lands were divided between the manors of ''Bulmer'' and ''Foston''. At the time of the time of Norman conquest, lands in the manor were held by ''Ligulf'', ''Northmann'', ''Earl Morcar'', ''Earl Waltheof'' and ''Gamal, son of Karli''. Afterwards the lands were granted to ''Robert, Count of Mortain'', ''Count Alan of Brittany'' and ''Berengar of Tosny''. The manor was held soon after by ''Niel Fossard'' and then followed the descent of the manor of nearby Sheriff Hutton. Other lands were tenanted in the 13th century by the ''Latimer'' family and followed the descent of his manor at Danby until the 16th century. The manor was not held in demesne like other manors.
