Henry Harvey Williams
Henry Harvey Williams, OBE (6 January 1917 – 11 November 2004) was a lawyer and civil servant who served as the acting Governor-General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines between 1988 and 1989. Williams was born in the village of Gomea, in Saint Vincent's Saint George Parish, and attended Saint Vincent Grammar School. He studied law at the University of the West Indies, and briefly worked as a teacher before entering the British Windward Islands civil service. In 1956, he was appointed District Officer in charge of Carriacou (now part of Grenada, but then administered separately). Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female.
