Henry Harrison (New York Politician)
Henry Harrison (April 2, 1854 – January 3, 1935) was an American businessman and politician from New York. Life Harrison was born on April 2, 1854, in Brockport, New York, the son of Josiah Harrison, a grain and produce businessman, and Adelia Field. Harrison graduated from the Brockport Normal School in 1873. He then went to the University of Rochester, graduating from there in 1877. He initially worked in the grain business in Detroit, but in 1879 he returned to Brockport and became associated with Horace Belden and continued the grain firm established by his father. The firm was one of the largest of its kind in western New York, and in 1897 the company was incorporated as the Henry Harrison Company, with Harrison serving as its president and treasurer. In 1895, Harrison was elected to the New York State Senate as a Republican, representing New York's 44th State Senate district ( Monroe County west of the Genesee River). Brockport, New York
Brockport is a village in the Town of Sweden, with two tiny portions in the Town of Clarkson, in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 7,104 at the 2020 U.S. Census. The name is derived from Heil Brockway, an early settler. It is also home to The College at Brockport, State University of New York. The Village of Brockport is roughly west of the City of Rochester, in the western end of Monroe County. The village is north of the junction of New York State Route 19 (north-south) and New York State Route 31 (east-west) on the Town of Sweden's northern line. Brockport calls itself "The Victorian Village on the Erie Canal". Brockport recently remodeled the village portion of the Erie Canal, providing a bricked walkway, a brand new canal visitor's center, and several pieces of art. Lake View Cemetery is a historic rural cemetery in the town of Sweden, near Brockport in Monroe County, New York. The cemetery was established in 1891. It includes a Romanesque Revival style chapel / receiving vault, a small pond, a cast iron tiered fountain, and a distinctive serpentine road system.
