Henry George Jr.
Henry George Jr. (November 3, 1862 – November 14, 1916) was an American newspaperman who served two terms as a United States representative from New York from 1911 to 1915. He was the son of the American political economist Henry George (1839–1897). Biography George was born in Sacramento, California, and attended the schools there. At the age of sixteen, he started working for a printing office, where he was employed for one year. He moved with his parents to Brooklyn in 1880 and worked as a reporter for the ''Brooklyn Eagle'' in 1881. In 1884, he accompanied his father as his secretary on a lecture tour of Great Britain, at the close of which he joined the staff of the ''London Truth''. He then returned to the United States and joined the staff of the ''North American Review''. Green-Wood Cemetery is a cemetery in the western portion of Brooklyn, New York City. The cemetery is located between South Slope/ Greenwood Heights, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, Kensington, and Sunset Park, and lies several blocks southwest of Prospect Park. Its boundaries include, among other streets, 20th Street to the northeast, Fifth Avenue to the northwest, 36th and 37th Streets to the southwest, Fort Hamilton Parkway to the south, and McDonald Avenue to the east. Green-Wood Cemetery was founded in 1838 as a rural cemetery, in a time of rapid urbanization when churchyards in New York City were becoming overcrowded.
