Henry Cary, 4th Viscount Falkland
Henry Cary, 4th Viscount Falkland (1634 – 2 April 1663) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1659 and 1663. Life Cary was the son of Lucius Cary, 2nd Viscount Falkland and his wife Lettice Morison, daughter of Sir Richard Morison of Tooley Park, Leicestershire. He was educated at Hayes, Middlesex under Dr Thomas Triplett. He inherited the title Viscount Falkland after his brother Lucius Cary died in 1649 and travelled abroad in France in 1650. Cary like his father and elder brother, had Royalist sympathises and during the early years of the Interregnum his movements were monitored by the Council of State, but after William Lockhart of Lee, the Protector's ambassador in Paris, had assessed him, he was no longer perceived to be a serious threat to the new establishment. Henry Cary, 8th Viscount Falkland
Henry Thomas Cary, 8th Viscount Falkland (27 February 1766 – 28 May 1796), styled Master of Falkland from 1780 to 1785, was a Scottish peer and British Army officer. Cary was the elder son of Lucius Cary, Master of Falkland and his wife Anne. He became the heir apparent to his grandfather, Lucius Cary, 7th Viscount Falkland after his father died in 1780, and succeeded his grandfather in the peerage on 27 February 1785. He was commissioned a cornet in the 19th Regiment of Light Dragoons on 13 September 1783, but the regiment was disbanded shortly thereafter and he went on half-pay. On 10 September 1785, he exchanged into the 10th Regiment of Dragoons. He was promoted lieutenant in the 100th Regiment of Foot on 10 December. That regiment, too, was disbanded, and he went on half-pay again, but on 5 April 1786, he exchanged into the 43rd Regiment of Foot. The Reverend Henry Francis Cary (6 December 1772 – 14 August 1844) was a British nationality, British author and translator, best known for his blank verse translation of ''The Divine Comedy'' of Dante.Richard Garnett (1887). Henry Cary (judge)
Henry Cary (12 February 1804 – 30 June 1870) was a barrister, classical scholar, Anglican clergyman, and early District Court of New South Wales, District Court Judge in the Colony of New South Wales. Cary was born in Kingsbury, Warwickshire, where his father was vicar. His parents were Henry Francis Cary, translator of Dante's Divine Comedy, and Jane Ormsby. She was the daughter of James Wilmot Ormsby of Foxford, co. Mayo, and Sandymount, Dublin, and his wife Jane DeGualy. Jane's eldest brother was Sir Charles Montague Ormsby, Baronet. Classical education Henry and his father were walking along the beach at Littlehampton one morning, his father reciting Homer out loud, when a gentleman heard it and introduced himself. Henry Cary (Archdeacon Of Killala)
Henry Cary (1717–1769) was the last surviving child of Rev Mordecai Cary, D.D., Bishop of Killala (1687–1751) and Catherine Courthorpe. Early years He was baptised on 2 June 1717 at London’s St Andrew Undershaft church while his father was rector of St Katherine Coleman, an old church which was demolished in 1734, rebuilt in 1741; and closed and demolished in 1926. In 1731, his father was appointed as chaplain to Lionel Sackville, 1st Duke of Dorset, and accompanied him to Ireland on Sept 11, 1731 where Sackville was sworn in as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Seven months later, on 1 April 1732, Mordecai was consecrated Bishop of Clonfert, co Galway. On the Duke's visit in 1735, he consecrated Mordecai as Bishop of Killala, co Mayo. Henry attended Trinity College, Dublin from 1733, graduating in 1737. He was appointed Prebendary of Lackan in 1741 and became Archdeacon of Killala in 1742, serving under his father.
