Henry Bodenstab
Henry H. Bodenstab (June 29, 1874December 28, 1948) was an American lawyer and Republican politician. He served four years in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the north side of the city of Milwaukee and northern Milwaukee County. Biography Bodenstab was born on June 29, 1874, in Howards Grove, Wisconsin. His father, Julius Bodenstab, had just finished his second of two terms as a Liberal Republican member of the Assembly. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1898. He died in Milwaukee on December 28, 1948. Career Bodenstab was a member of the Senate from 1909 to 1912. He was a Republican. He was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1919, but was defeated by Victor L. Wisconsin's 4th State Senate District
The 4th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within northern Milwaukee County. It comprises part of the city of Milwaukee's north side, as well as the village of Shorewood, the southern half of the city of Glendale, and part of northern Wauwatosa. Current elected officials Lena Taylor is the senator representing the 4th district. She was first elected in the 2004 general election, and is now serving her fifth term. The Liberal Republican Party was an American political party that was organized in May 1872 to oppose the reelection of President Ulysses S. Grant and his Radical Republican supporters in the presidential election of 1872. The party emerged in Missouri under the leadership of Senator Carl Schurz and soon attracted other opponents of Grant; Liberal Republicans decried the scandals of the Grant administration and sought civil service reform. The party opposed Grant's Reconstruction policies, particularly the Enforcement Acts that destroyed the Ku Klux Klan. It lost in a landslide, and disappeared from the national stage after the 1872 election. ''The Register-Guard'' is a daily newspaper in the northwestern United States, published in Eugene, Oregon. It was formed in a 1930 merger of two Eugene papers, the ''Eugene Daily Guard'' and the ''Morning Register''. The paper serves the Eugene-Springfield area, as well as the Oregon Coast, Umpqua River valley, and surrounding areas. As of 2016, it has a circulation of around 43,000 Monday through Friday, around 47,000 on Saturday, and a little under 50,000 on Sunday. The newspaper has been owned by The Gannett Company since Gannett's 2019 merger with GateHouse Media. It had been sold to GateHouse in 2018.
