Henry Bate (politician)
Henry John Bate (19 April 1881 – 4 January 1967) was an Australian politician. Born at Tilba Tilba, New South Wales, Tilba Tilba to farmer Richard Mossop Bate and Henrietta Higman, he was educated at Newington College (1897–1899),Newington College Register of Past Students 1863–1998 (Syd, 1999) p. 11 Sydney Technical and Hawkesbury Agricultural Colleges before becoming a farmer. On 2 May 1905 he married Lily Percival, with whom he had two sons; he would later remarry Elise May Mead on 23 May 1918. In 1910 he was elected to Eurobodalla Shire, Eurobodalla Shire Council, serving until 1913 and again from 1917 to 1928. In 1926 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Nationalist Party of Australia, Nationalist member for Electoral district of Goulburn, Goulburn, transferring to Electoral district of South Coast, South Coast in 1927. Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba are two villages near the Princes Highway in Eurobodalla Shire, New South Wales, Australia. John Perkins (Australian Politician)
John Arthur Perkins (18 May 1878 – 13 July 1954) was an Australian newsagent, bookseller and politician. He was a member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1926 to 1943, representing the seat of Eden-Monaro for the Nationalist Party of Australia and its successor the United Australia Party. He was a minister in the governments of Joseph Lyons and Robert Menzies. Early life and state politics Perkins was born at Gocup near Tumut, New South Wales, and educated at Tumut Public School and Cooma Public School. He was a small farmer at Cooma from 1894 to 1899, when he leased the property and became a newsagent, bookseller and stationer in Cooma. He was a Municipality of Cooma councillor from 1902 to 1909 and was Mayor of Cooma in 1904 and 1908. Rupert Beale
Rupert Noel Beale (24 December 1889 – 28 September 1942) was an Australian politician and an Independent member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for 16 months from May 1941 until his death. Early life Beale was born in Summer Hill, New South Wales, and was the son of a builder. He was educated to secondary level and was a qualified carpenter. Between 1910 and 1915, Beale was involved in a large number of enterprises including being an auctioneer, real estate agent and business broker. He was a dairy farmer in Aberdeen, New South Wales, from 1916 until he was bankrupted in 1922. He was not discharged from his bankruptcy until 1940. In the 1920s and 1930s he was a hotel manager in Newcastle, Sydney and the South Coast of New South Wales. He also had a real estate agency in 1934. Jack Tully
John Moran Tully (1 December 1885 – 27 October 1966) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1925 to 1932 and from 1935 to 1946. Born at Mulgoa to railway officer Peter Tully and teacher Sarah Lovat, he attended St Patrick's College in Goulburn before becoming a public servant. He was an assistant at the public library from 1903 to 1908 and a draughtsman at the Registrar General's Department from 1908 to 1925 and 1932 to 1935. On 4 October 1916 he married Dorothy Kitching, with whom he had two sons. He had joined the Labor Party in 1913 and became president of the Chatswood branch. Patrick Vincent "Paddy" Stokes (15 August 1884 – 6 April 1945) was an Australian politician. He was born at Braidwood to farmer Patrick Stokes and Bridget, ''née'' Daly. He was educated locally before becoming an engine driver, qualifying in 1908. In that year he was also secretary of the Braidwood branch of the Federated Engine Drivers and Firemen's Association. He served on Sydney City Council from 1918 to 1927 and from 1934 to 1945, with a period from 1925 to 1926 as Lord Mayor. In 1925 he was elected as one of the Labor members for Goulburn in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, and from May to October 1927 he served as Minister for Agriculture. He was defeated in the 1927 election and became a hotelkeeper, running Foster's Hotel in Sydney from 1929 to 1933, the Family Hotel in Bega from 1934 to 1935, and Victoria Hotel in Canowindra thereafter.
