Henry B. Harris
Henry Birkhardt Harris (December 1, 1866 – April 15, 1912) was a Broadway producer and theatre owner who died in the sinking of the . His wife was future producer Renee Harris, who survived the sinking and lived until 1969. Life Harris was the son of William Harris Sr., a founder of the Theatrical Syndicate in the 1890s and Rachel Harris (''née'') Freefield. He had a younger brother, William Harris Jr. Harris was born in St. Louis in 1866 and was a young boy when the family moved to Boston. He began his career selling song books in the theater lobby as a young man in St. Louis. When the family moved to Boston, young Harris began selling song books in the lobby of the Howard Athenaeum. Sinking Of The RMS Lusitania
The was a UK-registered ocean liner that was torpedoed by an Imperial German Navy U-boat during the First World War on 7 May 1915, about off the Old Head of Kinsale, Ireland. The attack took place in the declared maritime war-zone around the UK, shortly after unrestricted submarine warfare against the ships of the United Kingdom had been announced by Germany following the Allied powers' implementation of a naval blockade against it and the other Central Powers. The passengers had been warned before departing New York of the danger of voyaging into the area in a British ship. The Cunard liner was attacked by commanded by ''Kapitänleutnant'' Walther Schwieger. After the single torpedo struck, a second explosion occurred inside the ship, which then sank in only 18 minutes. The U-20’s mission was to torpedo warships and liners in the Lusitania’s area. 761 people survived out of the 1,266 passengers and 696 crew aboard, and 123 of the casualties were American citizens. May Alvos de Sousa (November 6, 1884 – August 8, 1948) was an American singer and a Broadway theatre, Broadway actress. Biography De Sousa was the daughter of a Chicago police detective,1900 U. S. Federal Census, accessed on ancestry.com on 13 September 2012 John De Sousa (born 1856 died 1941), and his wife, Bridget Caroline (Carrie) Walsh (1861—1910). Elsie Louise Ferguson (August 19, 1883 – November 15, 1961) was an American stage and film actress. Early life Born in New York City, Elsie Ferguson was the only child of Hiram and Amelia Ferguson. Her father was a successful attorney. Raised and educated in Manhattan, she became interested in the theater at a young age and made her stage debut at 17 as a chorus girl in a musical comedy. Helen Ware ( Remer; October 15, 1877 – January 25, 1939) was an American stage and film actress. Early years Born to John August Remer and Elinor Maria (née Ware), Ware adopted her mother's maiden name as her professional name. She had three siblings, Ada, Richard, and John Remer. Before becoming an actress, she worked as a governess and a swimming instructor. Career Ware debuted on stage in 1899 when she was a student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Along with other students, she was an extra in a production of ''The Little Minister''.
