Henry Adams (Wisconsin Politician)
Henry Adams (April 30, 1811 - July 30, 1871) was a Green County, Wisconsin, farmer who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate, as well as holding various local offices. Background Adams was born on April 30, 1811, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah Mills, likewise a Bedford County native, and they remained there for some time before moving to Coshocton County, Ohio, where they lived until leaving for Wisconsin in 1845. They started a farm of 160 acres in what would become Mount Pleasant, Green County, Wisconsin. Public office Adams soon became active in public affairs. Wisconsin Senate
The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Currently, Wisconsin is divided into 33 Senate Districts (1/3 of the current Assembly membership of 99) apportioned throughout the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 33 senators. Brooklyn is a town in Green County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,108 at the 2020 census. The unincorporated community of Attica is located in the town. Hardin County, Iowa
Hardin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,878. The county seat is Eldora. The county was named in honor of Col. John J. Hardin, of Illinois, who was killed in the Mexican–American War. History Hardin County was formed in 1851. It was named after Colonel John J. Hardin, who died in the Mexican–American War. In its history the county has had three courthouses. The first was a small wood-framed building, which burned down in the 1850s. The second courthouse was a two-story building and stood on the site of the current office of the county sheriff. National Union Party (United States)
The National Union Party was the temporary name used by the Republican Party and elements of other parties for the national ticket in the 1864 presidential election that was held during the Civil War. For the most part, state Republican parties did not change their name. The 24th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in central Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Portage County and most of Wood County, as well as the northern half of Adams County, the western half of Waushara County, eastern Jackson County, and northern Monroe County. The Whig Party was a political party in the United States during the middle of the 19th century. Alongside the slightly larger Democratic Party, it was one of the two major parties in the United States between the late 1830s and the early 1850s as part of the Second Party System.
