Henry's Anger
Henry's Anger was a Canberra-based heavy metal band, active in the 1990s. Their second album, ''Personality Test'', was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Rock Album They supported many acts such as Deftones, Mr Bungle, Suicidal Tendencies, Unsane, Strife, Regurgitator and The Mark of Cain. Biography The band was formed in 1994 and were finalists in the Australian National University's Campus Bands competition. That year it received an ACT cultural grant and released the ''Honest Brutality, Horrific Beauty'' demo tape. The demo tape was popular, selling about 350 copies by September 1995, helping them to establish a committed local following. After the release of the Interfere EP, original guitarist Malcolm McAllister and vocalist Michael Patrick Monaghan left to join forces with previous members of the rock band "Stickman" and folk duo "Plutoastia" to create the Canberra Acid folk outfit "The Way Hip Antelopes". Strife (band)
Strife is an American hardcore punk band from Thousand Oaks, California. They formed in 1991. Biography Their first LP, ''One Truth'', was released in 1994 via Victory Records. Their second album, ''In This Defiance'', was released in 1997 and includes guest appearances, with Chino Moreno of Deftones, Dino Cazares of Fear Factory and Igor Cavalera of Sepultura all taking turns on the album. They broke up two years later citing creative differences and exhaustion. Victory Records released ''Truth Through Defiance'', a compilation of live tracks and previously unreleased material. They reunited in 2000, playing several benefit concerts. By the following year, they had re-formed and released ''Angermeans''. ARIA Award For Best Rock Album
The ARIA Music Award for Best Rock Album, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. It is handed out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), an organisation whose aim is "to advance the interests of the Australian record industry." To be eligible, the recording must be an album in the contemporary rock, modern rock and active rock formats, and cannot be entered in other genre categories. ARIA Music Awards Of 1999
The 13th Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 12 October 1999 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Hosted by Paul McDermott and Bob Downe, and presenters, including Melanie C of the Spice Girls, Tina Cousins, Fiona Horne and Molly Meldrum, distributed 33 awards. The big winner for the year was Powderfinger with four awards. The Mark Of Cain (band)
The Mark of Cain (also seen as the initialism, TMOC) are an alternative metal band from Adelaide, South Australia. Their style has been likened to that of Helmet and Rollins Band, yet this band pre-dates both groups and was influenced by the early work of Joy Division, Big Black and United States hardcore groups. The Mark of Cain were formed in mid-1984 by brothers, John (guitar) and Kim Scott (bass guitar), with Rod Archer on vocals and Gavin Atkinson playing drums. Before long, Archer had left the group and John Scott took on the lead vocal role and the group has remained a trio ever since. The Scotts have been the core of the band which has featured 15 different drummers. Regurgitator are an Australian rock band from Brisbane, Queensland, formed in late 1993 by Quan Yeomans on lead vocals, guitar and keyboards; Ben Ely on bass guitar, keyboards and vocals; and Martin Lee on drums. Their debut studio album, ''Tu-Plang'' was released in May 1996; it was followed by ''Unit'' in November 1997 which was certified triple platinum. Unsane (band)
Unsane is an American noise rock trio that was formed in New York City in 1988. Its music touches on elements of hardcore punk and metal. The writer Patrick Kennedy wrote, "While developing the blueprint for noise-metal bands to follow, Unsane cut a remarkable swath through underground music, inspiring a devoted, cult-like following around the world." History In 1988, the singer/guitarist Chris Spencer, bass guitarist Pete Shore and drummer Charlie Ondras were students at Sarah Lawrence College when they formed Lawn-Chair-Blisters before changing the name to Unsane. The band signed to Circuit Records and recorded tracks with Wharton Tiers for what was supposed to be their first album ''Improvised Munitions'', but the label did not release it.
