Henrik Klaveness
Henrik Klaveness (16 April 1826 – 15 April 1888) was a Norwegian ship-owner and politician. He was born in Sandeherred (later Sandar) as a son of ship-owner Aake Torssøn Klavenes (1801–1853) and grandson of Thor Aagessøn Klavenes (1767–1854). He was a brother of priest Thorvald Klaveness, and his two other brothers were ship-owners. He was married to Thora Klaveness and had several children. One of their sons, Lars, became a banker in their hometown. Another son, Thoralv Klaveness, became a well-known writer. Henrik Klaveness was also an uncle of Anton Fredrik, Thorvald and Wilhelm Klaveness. He was a grand-uncle of Anton Fredrik Klaveness, Dag Klavenes, Torvald Faye Klaveness and Kristen Faye Klaveness. He was a farmer at ''Gogstad nedre'' in the parish of Sandar. In 1857, he inherited the shipyard "Klavenessverven", which had been owned by his father and grandfather. Sandar, Norway
Sandar (until 1932 named ''Sandeherred'') is a former municipality in Vestfold county (Norwegian: ''fylke''), Norway. Sandar was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). It was merged with Sandefjord and became its northeastern suburb on January 1, 1968. Sandar was, basically, the rural part of the current municipality, although it had its share of industry, too, mostly located close to the former border between the two municipalities. Thus many famous corporations now associated with Sandefjord had their origins in Sandar, e.g. Jotun, Framnæs Mekaniske Værksted and Sandar Fabrikker (a chemical plant dedicated to refining whale oil). With the merger, the combined district took the name of the much smaller town and, effectively, made Sandar disappear from history. Framnæs Mekaniske Værksted
Framnæs shipyard (Framnæs mekaniske Værksted) was a former Norwegian shipbuilding and engineering firm headquartered in Sandefjord, in Vestfold county, Norway. Originally strongly linked to the whaling industry, in later years it entered into more versatile shipbuilding, including rigs and modules for the offshore business. It was incorporated in 1898 and was closed down in 1986. History ''A/S Framnæs mek Værksted'' has its origins from three earlier shipyards. Christen Christensen took over ''Rødsverven'' in 1868 and bought the other yards one by one. He started ''Sandefjord Flytedokker A/S'' in 1884. In 1892, he privately owned almost all of the properties that later became ''A/S Framnæs mek.Værksted''. In the meantime, he also bought ''Kamfjordverven'' and ''Stubbverven''. Vestfold
Vestfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in Eastern Norway. In 2020 the county became part of the much larger county of Vestfold og Telemark. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it bordered the previous Buskerud and Telemark counties. The county administration was located in Tønsberg, Norway's oldest city, and the largest city is Sandefjord. With the exception of the city-county of Oslo, Vestfold was the smallest county in Norway by area. Vestfold was the only county in which all municipalities had declared Bokmål to be their sole official written form of the Norwegian language. Vestfold is located west of the Oslofjord, as the name indicates. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo.
