Henri De Merode
Count Henri Marie Ghislain de Merode (1782–1847) was a member of the Belgian Senate and writer. Life Henri de Merode was born in Brussels on 15 August 1782, the eldest of the four sons of (1762–1830) and Marie d'Ongnies de Mastaing, princess of Grimbergen. He inherited the titles prince of Grimbergen, count of Merode and of the Holy Roman Empire, marquis of Westerloo and Lords of Rubempré, prince of Rubempré. Belgian Senate
The Senate ( nl, Senaat, ; french: Sénat, ; german: Senat) is one of the two chambers of the bicameral Federal Parliament of Belgium, the other being the Chamber of Representatives. It is considered to be the "upper house" of the Federal Parliament. Created in 1831 as a chamber fully equal to the Chamber of Representatives, it has undergone several reforms in the past, most notably in 1993 and 2014. A lady-in-waiting or court lady is a female personal assistant at a court, attending on a royal woman or a high-ranking noblewoman. Historically, in Europe, a lady-in-waiting was often a noblewoman but of lower rank than the woman to whom she attended. Although she may either have received a retainer or may not have received compensation for the service she rendered, a lady-in-waiting was considered more of a secretary, courtier, or companion to her mistress than a servant. Jean Philippe Eugène De Mérode
Jean-Philippe-Eugène, Count de Mérode, 5th Marquess of Westerloo (22 June 1674 in Brussels – 12 September 1732 in Merode castle) was a Belgian soldier and ''Feldmarschall'' of the Holy Roman Empire and a prominent member of the House of Merode. In Flemish and Dutch sources he is known as Jan Filip van Merode-Westerloo. Jean-Philippe-Eugène de Merode was the only surviving child of Maximilian de Merode and Isabella-Margaretha de Merode. His father died one year after his birth and his mother remarried with the Joachim Ernest II, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Rethwisch. Avesnes-sur-Helpe (; vls, Avenne aan de Helpe) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is a sub-prefecture of the Nord department. It is situated 14 km from the Belgian border, and 18 km south of Maubeuge, the nearest larger town. The river Helpe Majeure, a tributary of the Sambre, flows through the town.
