Henri Duvillard (politician)
Henri Duvillard (born 23 December 1947) is a French former Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer. He is one of just seven men to win Alpine skiing World Cup, World Cup races in every discipline contested at the time. Duvillard competed at the 1972 Olympics in the Slalom skiing, slalom, giant slalom and Downhill (ski competition), downhill events with the best result of fourth place in the slalom. Career Duvillard's World Cup career lasted from its inception in 1967 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1967 until 1973 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1973, during which time he won six races, including the prestigious Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen, Switzerland. His best results came in 1971 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1971 and 1972 Alpine Skiing World Cup, 1972, when he finished second in the overall standings, behind the legendary Gustav Thöni in consecutive seasons. Megève
Megève (; frp, Megéva) is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Southeastern France with a population of more than 3,000 residents. The town is well known as a ski resort near Mont Blanc in the French Alps. Conceived in the 1920s as a French alternative to St. Moritz by the Rothschilds, it was the first purpose-built resort in the Alps. Originally it was a prime destination for the French aristocracy; it remains one of the most famous and affluent ski resorts in the world. History The town started its development as a ski resort in the 1910s, when the Rothschild family began spending their winter vacations there after becoming disenchanted with the Swiss resort St. Moritz. In 1921, Baroness Noémie de Rothschild (1888–1968) opened the Domaine du Mont d'Arbois, a luxury hotel which boosted the resort's development.
