Henoch Leibowitz
Alter Chanoch Henoch Hakohen Leibowitz (c. 1918His date of birth is uncertain, but his passport read June 2, 1918. – April 15, 2008) was an Orthodox rabbi who was Rosh Yeshiva (dean) of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yisrael Meir HaKohen, which was founded by his father Rabbi Chaim Dovid Hakohen Leibowitz in 1933. Biography Leibowitz was born in 1918 in Šalčininkai, Lithuania, and was the only son of Rabbi Dovid Leibowitz. He came to America in 1926 when his father was hired by Mesivta Torah Vodaath as a teacher. In 1933, his father left Torah Vodaath and founded Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yisrael Meir HaKohen. His father's death in 1941 left him in charge of the yeshiva in his early 20s. He built a network of Jewish educational institutions in the United States, Canada and Israel. Orthodox Judaism
Orthodox Judaism is the collective term for the traditionalist and theologically conservative branches of contemporary Judaism. Theologically, it is chiefly defined by regarding the Torah, both Written and Oral, as revealed by God to Moses on Mount Sinai and faithfully transmitted ever since. Elyakim Rosenblatt
Rabbi Elyakim Getzel Rosenblatt (1933March27, 2019) was an American Orthodox rabbi. He was the founder and ''rosh yeshiva'' of Yeshiva Kesser Torah in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens. Early life Rosenblatt was born in 1933 in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. His maternal grandfather was Yaakov Aizer Dubrow, the rabbi of Kesher Israel in Washington D.C. He attended Yeshiva Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin for elementary and high school, before going to learn in the Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland and the Yeshiva Chafetz Chaim in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Due to his wanting to dorm, in 1951, at the age of 18, he went to learn in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey and became a student of Aharon Kotler, whom he served tea to every day. While there, he was appointed the ''veker'' (someone who wakes the students up for the shacharis prayer). Among the students that he woke up every day was Shmuel Kamenetsky. It describes itself as "America's Largest Independent Jewish Weekly". ''The Jewish Press'' has an online version which is updated daily and reportedly has a readership of 2 million views each month. History The ''Press'' was founded in 1960 by Rabbi Sholom Klass, a Yeshiva Torah Vodaath graduate who had grown up in Williamsburg and who previously co-published the ''Brooklyn Daily''. A yeshiva (; he, ישיבה, , sitting; pl. , or ) is a traditional Jewish educational institution focused on the study of Rabbinic literature, primarily the Talmud and halacha (Jewish law), while Torah and Jewish philosophy are studied in parallel. The studying is usually done through daily ''shiurim'' (lectures or classes) as well as in study pairs called ''chavrusas'' (Aramaic for 'friendship' or 'companionship'). ''Chavrusa''-style learning is one of the unique features of the yeshiva. In the United States and Israel, different levels of yeshiva education have different names.
