Henny Mürer
Henny Mürer (22 February 1925 – 14 January 1997) was a Norwegian choreographer and dancer. She was also a journalist and critic for the broadcast and newspaper media. Her twin sister was Alice Mürer Siem (1925-2002) who was also a choreographer and dancer. Together with her sister, she studied at Rita Tori's Ballet School (1938-1946). She debuted at the Chat Noir (1946) and went to teach at the Royal Ballet School (1946–49). She was a soloist in the newly established Norwegian National Opera and Ballet (1958-1965). She served as rector for the National Ballet School Canada's National Ballet School, also commonly known as the National Ballet School of Canada, is a classical ballet school located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Norwegian National Academy of Ballet ( no, Statens balletthøgskole) was established in 1979 as a three-year education in ballet. The school was given collegiate status in 1982. In 1996 the National Academy of Ballet became part of Oslo National Academy of the Arts (''Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo'', KHiO). The first fully professional company each for opera and ballet in Norway and the only such professional organisation in the country, it is currently resident at the Oslo Opera House, since the spring of 2008. History Founded in 1957, the company had Kirsten Flagstad as its first general manager, from 1958 to 1960, and placed an emphasis on presenting operas and ballets written by Norwegian composers, and Norwegian as the standard language of the opera singers.
