Henning Larsen
Henning Larsen, Hon. FAIA (20 August 1925 – 22 June 2013) was a Danish architect. He is internationally known for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Riyadh and the Copenhagen Opera House. Larsen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1952. He continued studies subsequently at the Architectural Association School of Architecture and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His mentors included Arne Jacobsen and Jørn Utzon. Larsen founded an architectural firm that bears his name, Henning Larsen Architects (formerly Henning Larsens Tegnestue A/S). From 1968 to 1995, he was a professor of architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1985, he established the SKALA architecture gallery and the parallel SKALA architecture journal, both entities of which continued until 1994. Henning Larsen Architects is an international architectural firm based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1959 by Henning Larsen, it has around 750 employees. In 2008, it opened an office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and in 2011, an office in Munich, Germany were inaugurated. The company also have offices in New York USA, Oslo, Norway, in the Faroe Islands, and in Hong Kong, China. It is known for its cultural and educational projects. Among them Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavík that was selected as one of the ten best concert halls in the world by the British magazine Gramophone and won the Mies van der Rohe Award 2013, the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture. Henning Larsen (athlete)
Henning Karl Larsen (December 12, 1910 – January 11, 2011) was a Danish marathon runner who competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. Larsen joined Helsingør IF's football program at the age of 13 but eventually switched to representing the club in track and field athletics. He went on to earn twelve national titles, including nine in the marathon, and finished 8th and 10th in the marathon at the 1946 European Athletics Championships and 1948 Summer Olympics respectively. Outside of athletics he ran a grocery store and a dry cleaning business and provided the financing to found the Helsingør Pigegarde (Helsingør Women's Guard). Henning L. Larsen (born 12 April 1955) is a retired Danish track cyclist. In the amateur championships, he then won the 1979 team pursuit title together with Peter Ellegaard, Claus Rasmussen and Lars Johansen. Henning Sinding-Larsen
Henning Lange Sinding-Larsen (1 November 1904 – 18 November 1994) was a Norwegian journalist. Personal life He was born in Asker as a son of painter Kristofer Sinding-Larsen (1873–1948) and Margrethe Volkersen (1880–1951). He was a grandson of Alfred Sinding-Larsen, a nephew of Christian Magnus Sinding-Larsen, Birger Fredrik Sinding-Larsen and Holger Sinding-Larsen, and a first cousin of Knut Martens Sinding-Larsen. Sinding-Larsen was married three times. From 1930 to 1932 he was married to Gunhild Thalbitzer (1904–1995), daughter of Carl Thalbitzer. From 1934 to 1938 he was married to Vivika Catharina Margareta Ankarcrona (1914–1992). From July 1939 to 1965 he was married to Hilary Yvonne Holme (1918–). Henning Holck-Larsen
Henning Holck-Larsen (4 July 1907 – 27 July 2003) was a Danish engineer who co-founded the Indian engineering firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Early life and career Henning Holck-Larsen was educated at the University of Copenhagen (and what is now the Technical University of Denmark). He came to India in 1937 as a chemical engineer working for F. L. Smidth & Co. of Copenhagen. Partnering with his former schoolmate and fellow employee Søren Kristian Toubro, he set up Larsen & Toubro in 1938. The idea of L&T was conceived during a holiday in Matheran, a hill station near Mumbai. Holck-Larsen was a risk-taker while Toubro was more conservative. Larsen and Toubro saw opportunities in India at a time when few Europeans had realised the country's potential for industrial growth.
