Henner Hofmann
Henner Hofmann, AMC, ASC, (born July, 1950) is a Mexican cinematographer, producer and screenwriter. Early life Hofmann was born in Mexico City, Mexico. Both of his parents were artists. His father, Herbert Hofmann Isenburg, was a sculptor who was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He studied at the Ballhaus and later in Paris in the workshop of the French sculptor Aristide Maillol, and arrived in Mexico in 1939. His mother, Kitzia Hofmann, created stained glass art for churches in Mexico and the United States. Hofmann has said that one of the films that has had a strong impression on him was the short film ''The Red Balloon'' (1956) shot by Edmond Séchan. He said, "It is a magical story of a boy and a balloon that is full of charm and strong emotional undercurrents. That film left a mark on me forever. I was 7, and I remember every shot". Ariel Award
The Ariel Award ( es, Premio Ariel) is an award that recognizes the best of Mexican cinema. Given annually, since 1946, by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC), the award recognizes artistical and technical excellence in the Mexican film industry. The purpose of the Ariel recognition is to stimulate and increase the excellence of Mexican cinema, favor the growth of the industry, and promote the meeting and strengthening of the national film community. It is regarded as the most prestigious award in the Mexican film industry and considered Mexico's equivalent to the Oscars of the United States. Quiñones Motta; July 20, 1959) is a Puerto Rican screenwriter, film director, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist who divides his time between filmmaking and advocating for improvements in public education in countries around the world, such as Brazil, Puerto Rico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Argentina, Spain, Mexico and the United States of America. Matilde Soto Landeta (September 20, 1910 – January 26, 1999) was a Mexican filmmaker and screenwriter, the first female to serve in those roles during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Her films focused on the portrayal of strong, realistic female protagonists in a patriarchal world. Early life Landeta was born in Mexico City to a wealthy family, the daughter of Gregorio Soto Conde and Matilde Landeta Dávalos. Carlos Enrique Taboada Walker (July 18, 1929 - April 15, 1997) was a Mexican screenwriter and director. He is best known for his supernatural Terror and suspense films including Hasta el viento tiene miedo, Más negro que la noche, Veneno para las hadas, and El Libro de piedra. He won two Ariel Awards (Mexican film academy awards) for Best Picture and Best Director for his 1984 film ''Poison for the Fairies''. Jaime Humberto Hermosillo Delgado (22 January 1942 – 13 January 2020) was a Mexican film director, often compared to Spain's Pedro Almodóvar. Born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, in central Mexico, Hermosillo's films often explore the hypocrisy of middle-class Mexican values. He worked with Gabriel García Márquez on ''Mary My Dearest'' (1979) and ''The Summer of Miss Forbes'' (1988). His film ''Homework (1991 film), Homework'' (1991) was entered into the 17th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Special Mention. At the time of his death Hermosillo was teaching film-making at the University of Guadalajara and had recently collaborated with his students on several projects. Ludwik Margules Coben (December 15, 1933 in Warsaw, Poland – March 10, 2006 in Mexico City, Mexico) was a Polish-born Mexican theatre, opera and film director. Being an active member of the Mexican theatre circuit for more than fifty years, Margules taught acting and directing methods in several institutions, eventually founding his own acting academy, the Foro Teatro Contemporáneo (Contemporary Theatre Forum) in 1991. The Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) is a film school belonging to Mexico's Secretariat of Culture. It was founded in 1975 with the aim of providing technical and artistic training for those entering the film industry. The CCC is part of the International Association of Film and Television Schools and since 2011 to the International Federation of Film Archives. Recognized as a cutting-edge school in film teaching, it received the Award for Academic Excellence at the Tel Aviv Film School Festival, in Israel, in 2005, and in 2006 the Golden Ariel for its 30 years of educational work and contribution to national cinema.
