Hendrika Van Tussenbroek
Hendrika Cornelia van Tussenbroek (2 December 1854 – 21 June1935) was a Dutch composer and teacher who is best remembered today for her music for children. Tussenbroek was born in Utrecht. She studied music with Richard Hol and Johan Wagenaar, and collaborated with composer Catharina van Rennes Catharina van Rennes (2 August 1858, Utrecht – 23 September 1940, Amsterdam) was a Dutch music educator, soprano singer and composer. Van Rennes was the daughter of Jan van Rennes and Marianna Josepha de Jong. Among her tutors were Richard Ho .... She gave singing and piano lessons in Utrecht and Amsterdam. Several of her songs were included in the popular Dutch textbook ''Can You Still Sing, Sing Along'', which was reprinted in 41 editions between 1906 and 1986. Richard Hol
Richard (or Rijk) Hol (23 July 1825, in Amsterdam – 14 May 1904, in Utrecht (city), Utrecht) was a Dutch composer and conducting, conductor, based for most of his career at Utrecht (city), Utrecht. His conservative music showed the influence of Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn, and Robert Schumann and the Leipzig school, though as a conductor he offered Dutch audiences the more revolutionary music of Hector Berlioz and Richard Wagner. Life Richard Hol followed a course in piano under Jan George Bertelman at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, royal conservatory of Amsterdam; after his graduation in 1844 he made a living as piano accompanist. In part on the basis of his choral compositions he was appointed director of the Amsterdamse Toonkunstkoor in 1857. Johan Wagenaar
Johan Wagenaar (1 November 1862 – 17 June 1941) was a Dutch composer and organist. Life Born in Utrecht, out of wedlock, he was the son of Cypriaan Gerard Berger van Hengst and Johanna Wagenaar. Wagenaar's parents were of different social strata: his father was an aristocrat, while his mother was of more humble origins. For this reason, Wagenaar's parents were not married, and thus Wagenaar received his mother's name as his family name. While Wagenaar resented that his parents never got married, he was by no means neglected by his father. Wagenaar evidenced a talent for music as a child. However, he did not begin to receive a formal education in music until age 13, with subsequent instruction in piano, organ, violin, theory, and composition. Catharina Van Rennes
Catharina van Rennes (2 August 1858, Utrecht – 23 September 1940, Amsterdam) was a Dutch music educator, soprano singer and composer. Van Rennes was the daughter of Jan van Rennes and Marianna Josepha de Jong. Among her tutors were Richard Hol and Johan Messchaert. She made a career as a singer in oratorios and was highly praised for her interpretations of Schumann Lieder. She was also known for vocal compositions. She composed and conducted a cantata for The International Alliance meeting of the women's suffrage movement held in Amsterdam in 1909 which was performed by the Queen's Royal Band. Van Rennes established her own singing school and developed her own teaching technique.
