Hendrik Van Den Eynde (sculptor)
Hendrik Albertus van den Eijnde or van den Eynde (29 November 1869 – 1 February 1939) was a Dutch sculptor. His work was part of the sculpture event in the art competition at the 1936 Summer Olympics. Life and work Hendrik van den Eijnde was born into a Catholic family in Haarlem. He initially worked as a frame maker and received drawing lessons from the sculptor (1849–1919), in whose studio he worked for several years. He continued to develop through practice and study and was supported by Bart van Hove from 1902. In 1903 he founded the Haarlem Art Circle together with Henri Boot, , , and Ben Kamp. Van den Eijnde led the sculptor's studio with Hildo Krop, and on the sculpture decoration of the ''Scheepvaarthuis'' in Amsterdam, which was completed in 1916. The Netherlands Trading Society ( nl, Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij or NHM) was a Dutch trading and financial company, established in 1824 in The Hague by King William I to promote and develop trade, shipping and agriculture. For the next 140 years the NHM developed a large international branch network and increasingly engaged in banking operations. In 1964 it merged with Twentsche Bank to form Algemene Bank Nederland, itself a predecessor of ABN AMRO. History The NHM was a private company which issued publicly traded shares. According to the king, the NHM would act to leverage economic activity and encourage the development of national wealth. Joannes Benedictus Van Heutsz
Joannes Benedictus van Heutsz (3 February 1851 – 11 July 1924) was a Dutch military officer who was appointed governor general of the Dutch East Indies in 1904. He had become famous years before by bringing to an end to the long Aceh War. Early life and education Joannes Benedictus van Heutsz was born on 3 February 1851 in Coevorden in the Netherlands. Herman Willem Daendels
Herman Willem Daendels (21 October 1762 – 2 May 1818) was a Dutch revolutionary, general and politician who served as the 36th Governor General of the Dutch East Indies between 1808 and 1811. Early life Born in Hattem, Netherlands, on 21 October 1762, Daendels was the son of Burchard Johan Daendels, the mayoral secretary, and Josina Christina Tulleken. He studied law at the University of Harderwijk, acquiring his doctorate on 10 April 1783. Political activity In 1785, he sided with the Patriots, who had seized power in several Dutch cities. In September 1786 he defended the city of Hattem against stadholderian troops. In September 1787, he defended Amsterdam against the Prussian army that invaded the Netherlands to restore William V of Orange. Jan Pieterszoon Coen (, 8 January 1587 – 21 September 1629) was an officer of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in the early 17th century, holding two terms as governor-general of the Dutch East Indies. He was the founder of Batavia, capital of the Dutch East Indies. Renowned for providing the impulse that set the VOC on the path to dominance in the Dutch East Indies, he was long considered a national hero in the Netherlands. Apeldoorn (; Dutch Low Saxon: ) is a municipality and city in the province of Gelderland in the centre of the Netherlands. It is located about 60 km east of Utrecht, 60 km west of Enschede, 25 km north of Arnhem and 35 km south of Zwolle. Radio Kootwijk
Radio Kootwijk is a hamlet in the Dutch municipality of Apeldoorn. It is situated in a heather and forest rich territory in the Veluwe region, east of the sandhills of the Kootwijkerzand and the town of Kootwijk. Radio Kootwijk has a combined statistical listing with Hoog Soeren, the hamlet consists of about 37 houses. The village is known for its iconic radio transmitter.
