The Helpmann Awards are accolades for live entertainment and performing arts in Australia, presented by industry group Live Live Performance Australia (LPA) since 2001. The annual awards recognise achievements in the disciplines of musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre. Over forty awards are given to productions, festivals and concerts, and for individuals for their work in performance, direction, choreography, lighting, sound, music, costume and scenic design. They are named in honour of ballet dancer, choreographer, director and actor Sir Robert Helpmann. Mark Nadler is a New York City-based cabaret performer, actor, and comedic pianist. He has been described as "one of New York's most acclaimed singer/pianists" and a "virtuoso" of classical piano. Early life and education Nadler was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa. He took an interest in Broadway musicals from a young age, and was a fan of Danny Kaye, Mahalia Jackson, Jimmy Durante, the Marx Brothers, and Bugs Bunny. At the age of ten, he began performing professionally at the Long Straw Saloon in Cedar Falls, Iowa. As the gay son of Jewish immigrants, he felt out of place in the American Midwest. Christopher Green (born c. 1968 in Matlock, Derbyshire) is an English writer and performer whose work covers comedy, cabaret, theatre and live art. Background Green was born in Sheffield and grew up in Darley Dale and lives and works in London, England. His characters include country music singer Tina C and pensioner rapper Ida Barr. Green got into comedy via television production and acting, after graduating from Goldsmiths College (University of London), with a degree in Drama and English. Robyn Archer, AO, CdOAL (born 1948) is an Australian singer, writer, stage director, artistic director, and public advocate of the arts, in Australia and internationally. Life Archer was born Robyn Smith in Prospect, South Australia. She began singing at the age of four years and singing professionally from the age of 12 years, everything from folk and pop and graduating to blues, rock, jazz and cabaret. Caroline Nin is a French jazz singer and chanteuse, notable for her interpretations of the songs of Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf. Career Nin was born in Paris and studied at Lille University.
