David Helliwell
David Leedom Helliwell (July 26, 1935 – December 30, 1993) was a Canadian rower who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics. He won a silver medal in a coxed eight alongside Philip Kueber, Richard McClure, Douglas McDonald, Bill McKerlich, Carlton Ogawa, Donald Pretty, Lawrence West, and Robert Wilson. He also won a silver medal in the 1958 Commonwealth Games in Australia but this time in a coxed four. Ian Helliwell (footballer)
Ian Helliwell (born 7 November 1962) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He played in the Football League for York City, Scunthorpe United, Rotherham United, Stockport County, Burnley, Mansfield Town, Chester City and Doncaster Rovers. He played for Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield as a youth, before joining Matlock Town in non-League football. After four seasons, he moved to the Football League with York City, where he was top scorer for three successive seasons. He moved on to Scunthorpe United, where he was top scorer for one season, before having spells with Rotherham United, Stockport County and Burnley. He was loaned out on three occasions while at Burnley and he finished his career with Ilkeston Town. John Helliwell
John Anthony Helliwell (born 15 February 1945) is an English musician, best known as the saxophonist, secondary keyboardist, backing vocalist, and occasional songwriter for the rock band Supertramp. He also served as an MC during the band's concerts, talking and making jokes to the audience between songs. Helliwell played with The Alan Bown Set, replacing Dave Green when he joined in January 1966, before joining Supertramp in 1973 along with bassist Dougie Thomson, who convinced Helliwell to make the move. In 2004, Helliwell formed the band Crème Anglaise with Mark Hart, who had joined Supertramp in 1985. This group recorded their eponymous debut album in 2005. In 1987 Helliwell played on Pink Floyd's album ''A Momentary Lapse of Reason''; his name was misspelled as "Halliwell". This was after Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour had played on Supertramp's album ''Brother Where You Bound''. John R
John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. Robert A. Helliwell (September 2, 1920 – May 3, 2011) was an electrical engineer and professor at Stanford University. He was one of the pioneering scientists in the study of whistlers and related ionospheric phenomena. Early life Helliwell was born in Red Wing, Minnesota, on September 2, 1920. Wade Helliwell (born 10 May 1978) is a former Australian professional basketball player. Career Melbourne born Helliwell completed a stint at the Australian Institute of Sport before going on to a season of US College basketball attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte playing for the Charlotte 49ers in 2000. He played 31 games for the 49ers averaging 2.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per game. Helliwell Hills
The Usarp Mountains are a major Antarctic mountain range, lying west of the Rennick Glacier and trending north to south for about . The feature is bounded to the north by Pryor Glacier and the Wilson Hills. These mountains were discovered and first photographed from aircraft of the U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in 1946. They were first sighted and entered by the U.S. Victoria Land Traverse 1959-1960 (VLT), and the first ascent of Mount Welcome was made by John G. Weihaupt, Alfred Stuart, Claude Lorius, and Arnold Heine of that traverse team. The mountains were completely mapped by the United States Geological Survey from VLT reports, U.S. Navy air photos from 1960–63, and subsequent surveys. Helliwell Provincial Park
Helliwell Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada located on a headland at the northeast end of Hornby Island. The land, formerly a farm belonging to the Acton family, was donated by Mr. J. L. Helliwell. The park was established by Order in Council 2681 on September 16, 1966 and expanded several times thereafter. Its now include Flora Islet and part of Lambert Channel. There are facilities for hiking, canoeing, picnicking, sightseeing, and scuba diving. Restroom facilities consist of four pit toilets. The park has large old-growth Douglas-fir trees and rare Garry oak ecosystems. A trail loops around the bluffs that overlook the Strait of Georgia and links-up with Tribune Bay. The Garry oak meadow ecosystem is one of the many microclimates located within British Columbia and is considered an endangered habitat.
