Hell Town (film)
''Born to the West'' (reissue title ''Hell Town'') is a 1937 American Western film starring John Wayne, Marsha Hunt, and John Mack Brown. Filmed in black and white and based upon a Zane Grey novel, the movie incorporates footage from an earlier and higher budgeted silent version, a common practice of the era. The picture features fast chases, gun-fights, unusual poker gambling, and peppy light dialogue for the love interest. Plot Dare Rudd and Dinkey Hooley, roaming cowhands, drift into Montana, where they meet Dare's cousin, Tom Fillmore, cattleman and banker. Tom offers them jobs but they pass, until Dare sees Tom's sweetheart, Judy Worstall and decides to take the job. He is put in charge of a cattle drive, replacing ranch-foreman Lynn Hardy, who is in cahoots with Bart Hammond, rustler. Charles Barton (director)
Charles Barton (May 25, 1902December 5, 1981) was an American film and vaudeville actor and film director. He won an Oscar for best assistant director in 1933. His first film as a director was the Zane Grey feature ''Wagon Wheels'', starring Randolph Scott, in 1934. Barton worked in Hollywood B-movie units. From 1946, he was a principal director of the Abbott and Costello comedies, such as ''The Time of Their Lives'', ''Buck Privates Come Home,'' ''Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein,'' and ''Africa Screams''. He later directed Walt Disney films such as '' The Shaggy Dog'' and ''Toby Tyler''. His extensive work for television included every episode of ''Amos 'n' Andy'' in the 1950s, a total of 90 episodes of '' Dennis the Menace'' in the 1960s, and 106 episodes of ''Family Affair'' from 1967 to 1971. Lucien Littlefield
Lucien Littlefield (August 16, 1895 – June 4, 1960) was an American actor who achieved a long career from silent films to the television era. He was noted for his versatility, playing a wide range of roles and already portraying old men before he was of voting age. Life and career Lucien Littlefield was born in San Antonio, Texas and attended Staunton Military Academy. He started his movie career in 1913 and worked as an actor until his death in 1960. He usually portrayed comedic supporting characters, often much older than himself. His role of the doctor in '' The Cat and the Canary'' (1927) is one of his more notable performances. The character actor appeared with Laurel and Hardy, first as an eccentric professor in '' Dirty Work'' and finally as a veterinarian in '' Sons of the Desert'', both made in 1933. John Wayne Filmography
American actor, director, and producer John Wayne (1907–1979) began working on films as an extra, prop man and stuntman, mainly for the Fox Film Corporation. He frequently worked in minor roles with director John Ford and when Raoul Walsh suggested him for the lead in ''The Big Trail'' (1930), an epic Western shot in an early widescreen process called Fox Grandeur, Ford vouched for him. Earl Dwire (October 3, 1883 – January 16, 1940), born Earl Dean Dwire, was an American character actor who appeared in more than 150 movies between 1921 and his death in 1940. Dwire acted for three years in stock theater with companies in Portland and Seattle. In December 1912, he joined the American Theater company in Spokane, Washington, and shortly after was named the company's manager when the previous manager resigned. In 1921, he acted with, and was the director of, the Wright Players.
