Helgeland Kammerkor
Helgeland Kammerkor is a mixed choir from the region of Helgeland in Northern Norway. The choir was founded in Sandnessjøen i 1992, and currently has around 30 members. The members of Helgeland Kammerkor meet once a month for rehearsals, and give concerts 4-5 times a year. The choir has a broad repertoire that includes church music, madrigals, Nordic folk music and large concert works such as Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. From 2009 to 2018 the choir was conducted by Christopher Eva. Helgeland Kammerkor have recorded two CDs: ''Folketoner fra Helgeland'' (Folk music from Helgeland) in 2005, and ''Mennesket og skaperverket'' (Man and Creation) in 2012. In the autumn of 2012 Helgeland Kammerkor celebrated their 20th anniversary with concerts on the Hurtigruten (Norwegian coastal ship) and in Lurøy Church. Helgeland Kammerkor Lewisham 2011
Helgeland is the most southerly district in Northern Norway. Generally speaking, Helgeland refers to the part of Nordland county that is located south of the Arctic Circle. It is bordered in the north by the Saltfjellet mountains and Svartisen glacier, which form a natural border with the Salten district. In the south, Helgeland borders Trøndelag county. Susendal Church
Susendal Church ( no, Susendal kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Hattfjelldal Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Svenskvollen in the Susendal valley. It is one of the churches for the Hattfjelldal parish which is part of the Indre Helgeland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The brown, wooden church was built in a long church style in 2001 using plans drawn up by the architect Jim Inge Bøasæter. The church seats about 150 people. History A chapel was built at Svenskvollen in the Susendal valley in 1916. That red chapel seated about 70 people. In 1998 when the Bishop visited the chapel, it was decided that the church was in poor condition and a new church should be built to replace it. In 2001, a new church was built right next door. Brønnøy Church
Brønnøy Church ( no, Brønnøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Brønnøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Brønnøysund. It is the main church for the Brønnøy parish which is part of the Sør-Helgeland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The brown, cruciform, stone church was built in a Neo-Gothic style in 1870 by the architect Haakon Mosling. The church seats about 450 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1386, but the church was likely built around the year 1200 (end of the 12th century or early 13th century). There have been two church fires after lightning strikes on this site, the first in 1772 and the second in 1866. Mosjøen
Mosjøen (; sma, Mussere) is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town in Vefsn Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. Mosjøen is the oldest town in the Helgeland region, with only the Bodø (town), town of Bodø being older within Nordland county. The town is also the administrative centre of Vefsn Municipality. Sjøgata
Sjøgata ( no, Sea Street) is a historic and picturesque area running along the mouth of the river Vefsna in the town of Mosjøen which is located in Vefsn Municipality. It lies in the traditional district of Helgeland in Nordland county, Norway. Sjøgata, with the largest concentration of listed wooden buildings in northern Norway, is a popular tourist site. Nesna
Nesna is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Nesna. Other villages in Nesna include Handnesneset, Husby, Saura, and Vikholmen. The municipality consists of the three islands Tomma, Hugla (known as "Hugløy" by its inhabitants), and Handnesøya, and one peninsula that bears the name of the municipality, Nesna.
