Helensburgh Tigers
The Helensburgh Tigers are an Australian rugby league football team based in Helensburgh, a country town of the Illawarra region. The club are a part of Country Rugby League and has competed in the Illawarra Rugby League premiership since its inception in 1911. History The Tigers are a foundation club of the Illawarra Rugby League, playing in the inaugural competition in 1911. Their first game was a 2-0 defeat to Wollongong. The club, however, didn't always compete in first grade since this time and not always did they have a reserve grade team following them. Scarborough fielded a reserves team which followed the Tigers between 1932 and 1935 before the Tigers dropped out of first grade (leaving Scarborough to field a reserves side behind Albion Park) in 1936. Canterbury Bulldogs
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Belmore, a suburb in the Canterbury-Bankstown region of Sydney. They compete in the NRL Telstra Premiership, as well as competitions facilitated by the New South Wales Rugby League, including the Canterbury Cup NSW, the Jersey Flegg Cup, Harvey Norman Women's Premiership, Tarsha Gale Cup, S. G. Ball Cup and the Harold Matthews Cup. The club was admitted to the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership, predecessor of the current NRL competition, in 1935. They won their first premiership in their fourth year of competition with another soon after, and after spending the 1950s and most of the 1960s on the lower rungs went through a very strong period in the 1980s, winning four premierships in that decade. Cronulla Sharks
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Cronulla, in the Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney, New South Wales. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL), Australasia's premier rugby league competition. The Sharks, as they are commonly known, were admitted to the New South Wales Rugby League premiership, predecessor of the Australian Rugby League and the current National Rugby League competition, in January 1967. Dave Boughton
Dave Boughton is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played professionally in England and Australia. Playing career Boughton was an Engadine Dragons junior in the Cronulla-Sutherland District Rugby Football League. In 1991 he made his first grade début for the Cronulla Sharks. He played 82 games for the club between 1991 and 1996 before signing for the new Adelaide Rams franchise in 1997. Boughton was part of the inaugural Rams side on 1 March 1997 and played in seventeen matches for the club over two seasons. Hunter Mariners
The Hunter Mariners were an Australian professional rugby league club based in the Hunter Region's largest city, Newcastle. Hunter was formed in mid-1995 and was later disbanded at the end of 1997. The club was formed because of the Super League war, which was the rivalry between the traditional Australian Rugby League competition and the new media driven Super League competition. The team competed in the inaugural and only Super League season in 1997, as well as that year's World Club Challenge. The Mariners faced much adversity in the Newcastle region because of the Australian Rugby League's Newcastle Knights team being already well established in the region. The club played its home games at Topper Stadium and missed out on the finals of the 1997 Super League season, but made the grand final of the World Club Challenge.
