Helen Szuty
Helen Margaret Szuty (born 3 September 1957) is a former Australian politician. She was an Independent member of the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly from 1992 to 1995. Education Szuty graduated with a BA from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Education from the former Canberra College of Advanced Education before working in Community Services in Canberra. ACT Legislative Assembly In 1992 she stood for the ACT Legislative Assembly and was elected as the running mate of sitting independent Michael Moore on the Moore Independents Group ticket, but sat in the Assembly as an independent. She was unsuccessful in recontesting her seat at the 1995 election on Moore's ticket, and again on an attempt to regain her seat at the 1998 election as an unaligned independent. The defence of qualified privilege permits a person in a position of authority or trust to make statements or relay or report statements that would be considered slander and libel if made by anyone else. In New Zealand and Ontario, for instance, cases of political libel are inhibited by permitting open discussion of an allegation or rumor, if conducted responsibly and with due care for the privacy of the person whose reputation would be affected. Electoral District Of Playford
Playford is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. Named after the long serving South Australian premier Tom Playford, it is a 22.7 km² suburban electorate in Adelaide's north, taking in the suburbs of Green Fields, Mawson Lakes, Para Hills, Para Hills West, Parafield and Parafield Gardens. Playford was created as a safe Labor seat and was first contested at the 1970 election, where it was won by Labor candidate Terry McRae. At the 1989 election, McRae resigned from politics, with the seat won by Labor candidate John Quirke. Though typically a safe Labor seat, the seat technically became marginal, reduced to just a 2.7 percent two-party margin at the 1993 election landslide. SA-Best (stylised SA-BEST), formerly known as Nick Xenophon's SA-BEST, is a political party in South Australia. It was founded in 2017 by Nick Xenophon as a state-based partner to his Nick Xenophon Team party (renamed to Centre Alliance in early 2018). After an unsuccessful 2022 South Australian state election, the party has two representatives in the South Australian Legislative Council, Connie Bonaros and Frank Pangallo, whose current terms expire in 2026. Tanunda, South Australia
Tanunda is a town situated in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia, 70 kilometres north-east of the state capital, Adelaide. The town derives its name from an Aboriginal word meaning ''water hole''. The town's population is approximately 4600. The postcode is 5352 Settlement Prussian immigrants who arrived with Pastor Gotthard Fritzsche founded the village of Bethanien in 1842, the first settlement in the vicinity of today's Tanunda. One year later, Prussians relocating from Klemzig on the Torrens River, where they had settled upon immigrating in 1838 with Pastor August Kavel, came to the Barossa Valley and founded the village of Langmeil. The Regional Council of Goyder is a local government area located in the Mid North region of South Australia. The council area is reliant on agriculture as a mainstay of its economy, with manufacturing and tourism also becoming prominent. The council seat lies at Burra, with a branch office situated at Eudunda.
