Helen Mahon-Stroud
Helen Mahon-Stroud (born 15 April 1968) is a New Zealand netball coach and former rugby union player. Biography Rugby career Mahon-Stroud began her rugby career in 1989. She was introduced to the sport by Black Ferns legend Anna Richards who was also her Canterbury netball teammate. She captained the first New Zealand women’s rugby team in 1989, against the California Grizzlies side in Christchurch. Mahon-Stroud represented New Zealand at the inaugural 1991 Women's Rugby World Cup in Wales. She is credited as scoring the first women's Rugby World Cup try. In 2018, Mahon-Stroud was one of 46 former Black Ferns who were presented with a test cap. Netball coaching career In 2008, Mahon-Stroud was appointed head coach of the Canterbury Tactix in the ANZ Championship. Canterbury finished in seventh place during the 2008 season, with five wins and eight losses. She was retained as coach for the 2009 season. 2009 ANZ Championship Season
The 2009 ANZ Championship season was the second season of the ANZ Championship. The 2009 season began on 4 April and concluded on 26 July. Melbourne Vixens were minor premiers. With a team co-captained by Bianca Chatfield and Sharelle McMahon, Vixens subsequently defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 58–43 in the major semi-final and Adelaide Thunderbirds 54–46 in the grand final to finish as overall premiers. Alan Stroud (born 1965) is a former football (soccer) goalkeeper who represented New Zealand at international level. New Zealand Women's National Cricket Team
The New Zealand women's national cricket team, nicknamed the White Ferns, represents New Zealand in international women's cricket. 2008 ANZ Championship Season
The 2008 ANZ Championship season was the inaugural season of the ANZ Championship. The 2008 season began on 5 April and concluded on 28 July. Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic were minor premiers after finishing top of the table following the regular season. New South Wales Swifts, with a team coached by Julie Fitzgerald and captained by Catherine Cox, won 10 of their 13 matches and finished second behind Magic. Swifts subsequently defeated Magic in both the major semi–final and the grand final to become the inaugural ANZ Championship winners. The grand final was played on 28 July at Acer Arena.
