Helen Day Miller
Helen Day Miller (September 20, 1838 - January 13, 1889) was the wife of the financier Jay Gould. Biography Early life Helen Day Miller was born on September 20, 1838, in Manhattan, New York, the fourth child of Daniel Stratton Miller and Ann Kip Bailey. Her father, a prosperous merchant, was 40, and her mother Ann was 29. Her parents lived in The prestigious Murray Hill neighborhood in Manhattan and were prominent members of New York society. Jason Gould (; May 27, 1836 – December 2, 1892) was an American railroad magnate and financial speculator who is generally identified as one of the robber barons of the Gilded Age. He was himself a railroad executive, leading the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (DRGW), Western Pacific Railroad (WP), and the Manhattan Railway Company. Murray Hill is a neighborhood on the east side of Manhattan in New York City. Murray Hill is generally bordered to the east by the East River or Kips Bay and to the west by Midtown Manhattan, though the exact boundaries are disputed. Edwin Gould I
Edwin Gould Sr. (February 26, 1866 – July 12, 1933) was an American investor and railway official. Biography Gould was born in Manhattan, New York City, to railroad financier Jay Gould on February 26, 1866. He studied at Columbia University and was a member of the class of 1888 in the Columbia School of Mines. In 1896, he donated $18,000 to fund the crew team's boathouse, which is still named in his honor. For many years, Gould lived in Dobbs Ferry, on a huge estate, Agawam, that sat along the Hudson River. Gould was a generous benefactor to the small village, and one of his contributions, Gould Park, remains an important recreational site for village resident He retired in 1926, and he died on July 12, 1933.
