Hel (album)
''Hel'' is the eighth studio album by Faroese folk metal band Týr which was released by Metal Blade Records on 8 March 2019. On 10 January 2019, the group streamed a single titled "Fire and Flame", which predates the album, and was included in it two months later. Promotion and release ''Hel'' was released in 2019, six years after Týr released their seventh album, '' Valkyrja''. Production for the album was long due to the band's tours with Children of Bodom in North America and participation with 70000 Tons of Metal while on a cruise. Critical reception Andrea Caccese of ''Folk 'n' Rock'' called ''Hel'' a "dynamic, pristine character, which combines lush, sophisticated structures, with the classic fury and unapologetic energy of metal". She also added that "fans of the band will be delighted with t, calling ''Hel'' an "excellent album" and an "amazing opportunity for new fans to get to discover a fantastic band with a unique flavor". Týr (band)
Týr () is a Faroese folk metal band. They have been characterised as one of "the islands' two most successful metal bands". Their subject matter revolves almost entirely around Viking lore, mythology, and history, taking their name from Týr, the god of war in Norse religion. Viking Metal
Viking metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by a lyrical and thematic focus on Norse mythology, Norse paganism, and the Viking Age. Viking metal is quite diverse as a musical style, to the point where some consider it more a cross-genre term than a genre, but it is typically seen as black metal with influences from Nordic folk music. Common traits include a slow-paced and heavy riffing style, anthemic choruses, use of both sung and harsh vocals, a reliance on folk instrumentation, and often the use of keyboards for atmospheric effect. Viking metal emerged from black metal during the late 1980s and early 1990s, sharing with black metal an opposition to Christianity, but rejecting Satanism and occult themes in favor of the Vikings and paganism. Folk Metal
Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. It is characterised by the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech). It also sometimes features soft instrumentation influenced by folk rock. The earliest folk metal bands were Skyclad from England and Cruachan from Ireland. Metal Blade Records is an American independent record label founded by Brian Slagel in 1982. The US office for Metal Blade is located in Agoura Hills, California. Children Of Bodom
Children of Bodom was a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo. Formed in 1993 as Inearthed, the final line-up of the group upon their split in 2019 consisted of Alexi Laiho (lead guitar, lead vocals), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Seppälä (bass), Janne Wirman (keyboard), and Daniel Freyberg (rhythm guitar). The band released ten studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums and one DVD. 70000 Tons of Metal (officially stylized as 70000TONS OF METAL) is an annual heavy metal music festival that takes place on board a cruise ship. The event is a five-day festival, including one shore day at a select Caribbean destination. History The first 70000 Tons of Metal was held in 2011, and until 2014, 70000 Tons of Metal took place on board the cruise liner ''Majesty of the Seas''. In 2015, the festival moved to the cruise liner ''Liberty of the Seas'' and then to '' Independence of the Seas'' in 2016.
