Hein Hoyer
Hein Hoyer (lat. ''Hinricus Hoyeri'') (c. 1380 in Hamburg – 12 May 1447 in Hamburg) was a German statesman and mayor of Hamburg. His family belonged to the local upper class and Hoyer was elected as a member of the '' Rat'' (board/council), where he defended the interests of the bourgeois opposition against the older families, in 1413. The politician was selected as burgomaster (mayor) and head of the delegation to the Hanseatic League as well as to the Council of Constance four years later. Hoyer played a major role in the negotiations of the peace treaty of Vordingborg (1435), between the Hanseatic League and Adolf VIII, Count of Holstein on the one and Denmark on the other side. Hendrik Jan (Hein) Rutten meergenaamd Roethof (23 November 1921, in Utrecht – 15 January 1996, in Utrecht) was a Dutch journalist and politician. He completed his secondary education at the Utrecht HBS. Roethof read Law of the Dutch East Indies at Utrecht University from 1940 to 1945, from which he received his PhD in 1951. After the Second World War he moved to the Dutch East Indies, where he was a civil servant from October 1945 to March 1946. He then worked for two years at the Government Information Service in Batavia. In 1948 he turned to journalism and was an assistant editor-in-chief of a newspaper for half a year. Hein ter Poorten (21 November 1887 – 15 January 1968) was a Dutch military officer. He was the commander of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army in World War II. Ter Poorten was also Allied land forces commander in the American-British-Dutch-Australian Command on Java during early 1942. Early life Hein ter Poorten was born on 21 November 1887 in Buitenzorg (now Bogor) on Java, which was at the time part of the Dutch East Indies. He was the son of Franciscus Hendricus ter Poorten, a chief mate in the Government Navy, and of Clasina Ambrosina Kater. Hein Odendaal (born 17 July 1942) is a South African medical doctor and internationally recognised specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Biography A graduate of the University of Pretoria and the University of Stellenbosch, Odendaal returned to Stellenbosch in 1983 as Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a position he held for 20 years. He also served as visiting professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, and as coordinator of Obstetric Services in the Western Cape, South Africa in 2003.
