Heiligenberg (Naumburg)
Heiligenberg is a mountain of Hesse, Germany. It is located between Altendorf to the north and Heimarshausen to the south of the Naumburgh township in the district of Kassel. It lies in the East Waldeck Border Lowlands (''Ostwaldecker Randsenken'') of the West Hesse Highlands (''Westhessisches Bergland''), and is covered with a mixed deciduous and evergreen forest. West Hesse Highlands
The West Hesse Highlands (german: Westhessisches Bergland), also known as the West Hessian Lowlands and Highlands (''Westhessisches Berg- und Senkenland''), are a heavily forested region of the Central Uplands in Germany. These highlands lie mainly within the state of Hesse, between that part of the Rhenish Massif right of the Rhine in the west, the Weser Uplands to the north, the Hessian Central Uplands to the east and the Wetterau to the south. The West Hesse Highlands form one of the major natural regions of Germany (Natural Region No. 34 or D46) and are part of the Central European Uplands as well as being the watershed between the Rhine and the Weser. Altendorf (megalithic Tomb)
The Altendorf tomb (german: Steinkammergrab von Altendorf) was an important megalithic tomb at Altenburg near Naumburg, northern Hesse, Germany. It was a gallery grave belonging to the Late Neolithic Wartberg culture. The Altenburg tomb is of special significance in Central European prehistory because of the large number of individuals it contained. Dates The tomb belongs to the Hessian-Westphalian stone cist group ('Hessisch-Westfälische Steinkistengruppe'), which is part of the Wartberg culture. It dates to the 3,400 BC or later and is normally assumed to be one of the earliest such monuments in the region. Kassel district ( German: Landkreis Kassel) is a district in the north of Hesse, Germany. Neighboring districts are Northeim, Göttingen, Werra-Meißner, Schwalm-Eder, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Höxter. The independent city of Kassel is nearly completely surrounded by the district. Geography The main river in the district is the Weser, which also forms part of the eastern boundary.
