Heil Caesar
''Heil Caesar'' is a 1973 BBC television drama. It was an adaptation by John Bowen of Shakespeare's play ''Julius Caesar'' which was produced by Ronald Smedley. The production designer was Humphrey Jaeger. The adaptation is listed as one of Bowen's achievements in his obituary in ''The Guardian'' newspaper It was originally made in three parts for use with schools and colleges but it was shown again a year later on BBC 2 on 21 October 1974 in a single 90 minute slot. In 1975, the BBC made a further introductory programme for schools to add to the original three episodes which examined the series in more detail for schools and which included comments from the original cast. John Bowen (British Author)
John Griffith Bowen (5 November 1924 – 18 April 2019) was a British playwright and novelist. Early life John Bowen was born in Calcutta, India, to Ethel (née Cook) and Hugh Bowen; his father was the manager of the Shalimar Print Works in Gobariah. John Bowen's grandfather was an Inspector of Police in Calcutta. At the age of five and a half he was placed on a boat in Bombay and sent back to Britain where he was brought up by his uncle Donald and aunt Dolly in Whitehaven. Bowen was sent to board at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Crediton in Devon, where he developed an interest in literature and drama. In 1939, his mother returned to England with her three younger children, Patricia (b. 1926) and twins Daphne and David (b. 1930), and rented a house near Crediton. In 1940, having read about the bombing of Britain in ''The Times of India'', Bowen's father sent a cable to his wife saying "Bring the children out", though no bombs had fallen in or near Crediton. Peter Howell (actor)
Peter Norman Bulmer Howell (25 October 1919 – 20 April 2015) was an English actor. Born in London, he was educated at Winchester College and began studying law at Christ Church, Oxford, but left in 1939 after being called up for military service in World War II. He served as a second-lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade, but was invalided out with dysentery during the North Africa Campaign in 1943. Shortly after, he made his professional stage debut with the Old Vic company. His West End plays included '' The Affair'', '' The Doctor's Dilemma'', ''Little Boxes'', and ''Conduct Unbecoming''. Howell's most recognised role was as Dr. Peter Harrison in television hospital drama series ''Emergency – Ward 10'' from 1958 to 1964, making brief returns to the series in 1966 and for the show's final episode in 1967. Peter Settelen (born 23 September 1951) is a British actor and voice coach, known for helping Princess Diana (1961–1997) improve her public speaking skills. Early life Settelen was born in London. He worked as an actor, including a role in three episodes of the soap opera ''Coronation Street'', and in an episode of '' Thriller'' (1975), before becoming a voice coach.
