Jascha Heifetz
Jascha Heifetz (; December 10, 1987) was a Russian-born American violinist. Born in Vilnius, he moved while still a teenager to the United States, where his Carnegie Hall debut was rapturously received. He was a virtuoso since childhood. Fritz Kreisler, another leading violinist of the twentieth century, said after hearing Heifetz's debut, "We might as well take our fiddles and break them across our knees." He had a long and successful performing career; however, after an injury to his right (bowing) arm, he switched his focus to teaching. Late in life, Heifetz became a dedicated teacher and a champion of socio-political causes. He publicly advocated to establish 9-1-1 as an emergency phone number, and crusaded for clean air. He and his students at the University of Southern California protested smog by wearing gas masks, and in 1967, he converted his Renault passenger car into an electric vehicle. Daniel Heifetz
Daniel Alan Heifetz (born November 20, 1948) is an American concert violinist and pedagogue best known as the Founder of the Heifetz International Music Institute. His career has been focused on education and the art of communication through performance. Early life Daniel Heifetz was raised in Southern California, the son of Milton Heifetz and Betsy Heifetz (née Baron), and began violin studies at the age of six. At sixteen, Heifetz became a student of Efrem Zimbalist at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He was also coached by Jascha Brodsky and, upon Zimbalist's retirement, concluded his studies with Ivan Galamian. He made his New York orchestral debut at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center in a performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra. Yuri Heifetz (pen-name Boris Berg; russian: Хейфец, Юрий Борисович; born 31 October 1953, in Sverdlovsk) is Russian poet, singer-songwriter, and medical doctor. Biography Yuri Heifetz wrote his first poem at age of 11, and his first song at age of 14, while studying at a music school in Sverdlovsk. In 1978 he created rock group "Eternal Spring", however the group was accused of ideological subversion by the KGB and disbanded. After graduating from medical school in Sverdlovsk, he worked as an epidemiologist and a gastroenterologist. In 1989 he left medicine and started working in the entertainment business. In 1989, he released first album with his songs, "Bytovuha", in the genre of Russian chanson. Danny Heifetz (born 1964 in New York City) is an American musician who is perhaps best known for being the drummer for American experimental rock group, Mr. Bungle from 1989, until their disbandment in 2000. Rabbi Yisrael Meir ha-Kohen Kagan (January 26, 1838 – September 15, 1933), known popularly as the Chofetz Chaim, after his book on lashon hara, who was also well known for the Mishna Berurah, his book on ritual law, was an influential Lithuanian Jewish rabbi, Halakhist, posek, and ethicist whose works continue to be widely influential in Orthodox Jewish life. Iosif Yefimovich Kheifits ( be, Іосіф Яўхімавіч Хейфіц; – 24 April 1995) was a Soviet film director, winner of two Stalin Prizes (1941, 1946), People's Artist of USSR (1964), Hero of Socialist Labor (1975). Grigory Markovich Kheifets, also known as Grigori Kheifetz (1899–1981), was a Soviet intelligence officer, a lieutenant colonel of the NKVD-MGB. He was one of the principals in Soviet nuclear espionage. From December 1941 until July 1944, he was the San Francisco Soviet intelligence station chief or ''Rezident''.
