Heidi Halvorsen
Heidi Aassveen Halvorsen (born 1976) is a Norwegian handball goalkeeper. She played eight matches for the national handball team in 2001, and participated at the 2001 World Women's Handball Championship in Italy, where the Norwegian team placed second. She hails from Tomter. World Women's Handball Championship
The IHF Women's Handball World Championship has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1957. European teams have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winners are Russia and Norway with four titles each. Nine teams participated in the first championship, this number has grown in steps to 32 (from 2021). In 1977 a B-tournament was introduced and later in 1986 a C-tournament which served as qualification for the real championship or A-tournament. The B- and C-tournament qualifications were replaced by the present qualification system based on continental confederations in 1993. From 1993 it has been held every other year. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The Norway women's national handball team represents Norway at international handball competitions, and is governed by the Norges Håndballforbund (NHF). As of 2022, Norway has been in 24 finals and is regarded as one of the finest women's national handball team ever. Norway women's national handball team holds the distinction in the sport for being the only handball team, on the women's side, and men's side, to have won the European Championship four consecutive times. Tomter
Tomter is a village in Indre Østfold municipality in the county of Viken, Norway. As of 2022, Tomter has 2108 inhabitants. It is the largest village in the former Hobøl municipality, now part of Indre Østfold. Tomter is situated approximately 40 kilometres south of Norway's capital, Oslo, and approximately 15 kilometres northwest of the biggest city in Indre Østfold, Askim. Oslo is easily reached with a 40 minute train ride from Tomter Station. Tomter is one of five villages and cities in Indre Østfold municipality. Lunner IL
Lunner Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Lunner, Oppland. It currently only has a section for team handball. The club is best known for its women's handball team. It played in the highest Norwegian league for many years, and became runners-up in the Norwegian Cup in 1989. Kjersti Grini became league top goalscorer and player of the year in 1990, and Cathrine Svendsen became player of the year in 1991. Eli Fallingen also played internationally for Norway. In addition, Jøran Lien Grymyr was a men's international in 1987. The women's team now plays in the Second Division, the third tier. The men's football team played in the Third Division for some years, last in 2002. After the season the team entered a cooperation with neighbors Grindvoll IL, who played one tier higher. SK Aarhus
SK Aarhus was a Danish women's handball club based in Aarhus. They played in Damehåndboldligaen when the team closed after the 2016-17 season because of financial issues. Aarhus United took over their licence for the league. SK Aarhus has previously also included basketball and volleyball. History SK Aarhus had consistently been at the bottom of Damehåndboldligaen and were relegated to 1. division after the 2004-05 season. They were, however, promoted again after just one season. Later, the club strengthened their roster with the likes of Karin Mortensen and Trine Troelsen and this resulted in a playoff place and fourth place after three matches against FCK Håndbold in the 2008-09 season. Bækkelagets Sportsklub is a Norwegian sports club from Bekkelaget in southern Oslo, founded in 1909. The club has sections for skiing (including ski jumping and biathlon), orienteering, handball, football, floorball and track and field athletics, previously also bandy. It is known for organizing one of the world's largest youth football tournaments, Norway Cup. Handball The club consists of 850 active handball players. The women's handball team won the Women's EHF Cup Winner's Cup in 1997/1998, and again in 1998/1999. The club also reached the final in EHF Women's Champions Trophy the same two seasons.
