Heidi Caroline Feek (born October 3, 1986) is an Americana singer and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. Early life Feek is the daughter of Rory Feek of country music duo Joey + Rory. She moved around growing up as her father was in the Marine Corps. Her family moved from Dallas, TX when she was in the third grade to Nashville, TN and her father bought a farm in Columbia, TN, where she grew up with her sister and father. Music career Feek started her professional music career singing back-up for country duo Joey + Rory, in 2010. After releasing two solo EP's, she joined "firekid" (Dillon Hodges) in 2015 for his North American tour for his self-titled, debut album, ''firekid''. She continued to perform with Hodges in 2016, providing electronic accompaniment to his singing. Feek released her first EP, ''Eden'', in 2010. It won the Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album in 2017. Background The set, which was a "dream project" for Joey Feek, consists of twelve covers of religious hymns, plus a reprise of "When I'm Gone," which was first featured on the duo's '' His and Hers'' album in 2012. Some proceeds of the album's deluxe edition will go towards the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation, a charity selected by Joey Feek in honor of her daughter's friend who has Loeys-Dietz syndrome. Thomas Russell Durden (December 15, 1919 – October 17, 1999) was an American steel guitarist and songwriter, who is most notable for co-writing Elvis Presley's breakthrough hit, "Heartbreak Hotel". Biography He was born in Morgan County, Georgia, the son of a sharecropper and the youngest of seven children. The family later moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he learned slide guitar and later steel guitar. He performed with the Westernaires as steel guitarist, and in the early 1950s, after moving to Gainesville, joined country band Smilin' Jack Herring and his Swingbillys. Mae Boren Axton (September 14, 1914 – April 9, 1997) was known in the music industry as the "Queen Mother of Nashville." She co-wrote the Elvis Presley hit single "Heartbreak Hotel" with Tommy Durden. "Heartbreak Hotel" is a song recorded by American singer Elvis Presley. It was released as a single on January 27, 1956, Presley's first on his new record label RCA Victor. It was written by Mae Boren Axton and Tommy Durden, with credit being given also to Presley. A newspaper article about the suicide of a lonely man who jumped from a hotel window inspired the song.
