Himanshu Kumar Suri (born July 6, 1985), better known by his stage name Heems, is an American rapping, rapper from Queens in New York City. Best known for being part of the alternative hip hop group Das Racist, Suri is also the founder of Greedhead Music, an independent record label. In 2012, Suri released his first solo mixtape, ''Nehru Jackets'', on his Greedhead imprint and in conjunction with SEVA NY, a community-based organization from Queens of which Suri is a board member. In August 2015, Heems announced that 20th Century Fox, Fox had bought his story rights for a potential sitcom, and that he was working on the pilot. He is currently a member of Swet Shop Boys along with actor and rapper Riz Ahmed, Riz MC and producer Redinho. Das Racist
Das Racist was an American alternative hip hop group based in Brooklyn, composed of MCs Heems and Kool A.D. and hype man Ashok Kondabolu (a.k.a. Dapwell or Dap). Known for their use of humor, academic references, foreign allusions, and unconventional style, Das Racist has occasionally been hailed as an urgent new voice in rap but often dismissed as joke rap. After rising to Internet fame with their 2008 song "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell", Das Racist established themselves as rappers with the release of their 2010 mixtapes ''Shut Up, Dude'' and ''Sit Down, Man''. Nehru Jackets
''Nehru Jackets'' is the first solo mixtape by rapper Himanshu. It was released on Himanshu's own Greedhead label on January 17, 2012. ''Rolling Stone'' named the song "Womyn" the 36th best song of 2012. About Himanshu released ''Nehru Jackets'' in collaboration with SEVA NY to draw attention to the redistricting battle in Queens, New York. Guests on ''Nehru Jackets'' include Despot, Danny Brown, Childish Gambino, Fat Tony and Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire. In an interview with ''Rolling Stone'', he explained the creation process: "with Mike inito I just kind of let him do his thing. I told him I wanted Indian stuff, and he cooked it up. Mike just gave me, like, 40 beats and I fucked with whatever I liked." The mixtape has received positive reviews, including a score of 8/10 from ''Spin'' magazine. Greedhead Music
Greedhead Music is an independent record label founded by Himanshu Suri of Das Racist. Initially, Suri founded Greedhead Music as a management and recording company in 2008 to manage Das Racist. Greedhead's first releases were the group's 2010 mixtapes, ''Shut Up, Dude'' and ''Sit Down, Man''. Das Racist's first commercially available album, ''Relax'', was also the first commercial release on the Greedhead imprint. Greedhead has since released solo mixtapes by both Kool A.D. Bellerose, Queens
Bellerose is a middle class neighborhood on the eastern edge of the New York City borough of Queens, along the border of Queens and Nassau County, Long Island. It is adjacent to Bellerose Village and Bellerose Terrace in Nassau County, from which it is separated by Jericho Turnpike. Megaforce Records is an American independent record label founded in 1982 by Jon Zazula and his wife Marsha Zazula to release the first works of Metallica, and devoted primarily to hard rock and heavy metal. Redinho
Tom Calvert, better known by his stage name Redinho, is an English multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer from London. Calvert produced Swet Shop Boys' debut album ''Cashmere'' and ''Sufi LA'', and performed with them on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York, and directed their live performance on BBC Radio 1. Calvert was also the member of Hudson Mohawke's live band on the Lantern album campaign, and produced Riz Ahmed's 2020 album ''The Long Goodbye.'' Stuyvesant High School (pronounced ), commonly referred to among its students as Stuy (pronounced ), is a State school, public university-preparatory school, college-preparatory, Specialized high schools in New York City, specialized high school in New York City, United States.
