''Hed PE'' (stylized as ''(həd)pe'') is the debut album by the American rock band Hed PE. It was released on August 12, 1997 by Jive Records, and has sold over 100,000 copies. Music Six of the tracks on this album were re-recorded from the band's debut EP, '' Church of Realities''; The album's musical style is a fusion of punk, hip hop, metal, funk and reggae. Release The album sold over 100,000 copies. Due to the label's contractual terms and the disappointing sales of the album, the band found themselves unable to repay the cash advances given to them by Jive. Jared Gomes is quoted as saying "We had these romantic visions of the music industry, and we thought it would be cool to be a punk band on a rap label. So we fulfilled that dream, but it was also probably the worst thing that could have happened. ..We've had offers from Sony and others that we can't take because we owe Jive so much money." Hed PE
Hed PE (also known as (hed) Planet Earth and stylized as (həd) p.e. or as (Hed)pe or (Hed)PE) or (həd) Planetary Evolution, is an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California. Formed in 1994, the band is known for its eclectic genre-crossing style, predominately in the fusion of gangsta rap and punk rock it has termed "G-punk", but also for its reggae-fused music. After releasing three albums on Jive Records, Hed PE left the label to record independently. Hed PE was signed with Suburban Noize Records from 2006 until 2010. Since 2014, the band has been signed with Pavement Music. Since 2006, the band has become known for its involvement in the 9/11 Truth movement, referencing it in many of their song lyrics and concerts, as well as the concept of the album ''New World Orphans''. Jared Gomes
Paulo Sergio "Jared" Gomes, also known as Jahred and M.C.U.D. ("MC Underdog") (born February 29, 1964) is an American singer, musician and social activist, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Hed PE. Biography Gomes was born Paulo Sergio Gomes on February 29, 1964 to a mother of Indigenous Brazilian descent and a father of Afro-Brazilian descent. He got his first start in the music industry as the frontman of the new wave band The Clue, which was active from 1984 until 1990. After that he fronted Live Urban Sexx Tribe from 1991 to 1994. He later met guitarist Wes Geer amidst the Orange County hardcore punk scene, and the two formed a band, recruited guitarist Chizad, bassist Mawk, drummer B.C. Vaught and DJ Product 1969. They named the group "Hed", which stands for "higher education". Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. A backing vocalist is a singer who provides vocal harmony with the lead vocalist or other backing vocalists. Wesley Geer
Wesley Harmon Geer Jr. is an American guitarist, best known as a founding member of the band Hed PE, formed in 1994 in Huntington Beach, CA. He also toured with nu metal band Korn. Biography Geer was born in Fullerton, California. He met rapper and singer Jared Gomes, while attending local music shows in Orange County, California during the 1990s. Together they formed the band Hed PE. Hed PE was signed by Jive Records, and toured with bands like Deftones., System of a Down, and Korn. Geer left the band in 2003, to adopt a different lifestyle, and took a job with Fusion Academy & Learning Center to teach music to children in grades 6–12. In 2010, Geer joined Korn. He knew guitar player James "Munky" Shaffer since 1994.
