Hec Yeomans
Hector Richard "Hec" Yeomans, MM (17 February 1895 – 11 September 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda and Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life Yeomans was born in Albert Park, Melbourne, in 1895, the only child of Richard Eli Yeomans and Norah Teresa Cameron. War service Yeomans enlisted to fight in World War I in January 1916 and fought in France, receiving the Military Medal for his actions in the Battle of Mont Saint-Quentin in September 1918. Football Yeomans played two senior games for St Kilda in the 1920 VFL season before leaving to join Hawthorn, then in the Victorian Football Association. He was an immediate success at Hawthorn, establishing himself as one of the leading rovers in the Victorian Football Association at that time. Albert Park, Victoria
Albert Park is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south of Melbourne's Central Business District. The suburb is named after Albert Park, a large lakeside urban park located within the City of Port Phillip local government area. Albert Park recorded a population of 6,044 at the 2021 census. The suburb of Albert Park extends from the St Vincent Gardens to Beaconsfield Parade and Mills Street. It was settled residentially as an extension of Emerald Hill (South Melbourne). 1928 VFA Season
The 1928 Victorian Football Association season was the 50th season of the Australian rules football competition. The premiership was won by the Coburg Football Club, after it defeated Port Melbourne by seven points in the final on 8 September. It was the club's third VFA premiership, achieved in only its fourth season of senior competition, and was the third in a sequence of three premierships won consecutively from 1926 until 1928. Association membership After six seasons with limited on-field success, Geelong's supporter base had become very low, and its gate takings were unable to cover both running costs and the travel expenses of visiting teams. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). Brunswick Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football League, Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1897 until 1991. Based in Brunswick, Victoria, for most of their time in the Association they were known as the Magpies, and wore black and white guernseys. In its final two seasons in the VFA, it was known as Brunswick-Broadmeadows. History Brunswick Football Club was formed in 1865 and joined the VFA in the 1897 season. The club was colloquially known in its early days as the ''Pottery Workers'' or the ''Brickfielders'', and its fans were known for sounding clayhole bells at matches; after changing their colours from light blue and red colors to black and white, they became informally, and then later formally, known as the Magpies.
