Heba Saadieh
Heba Saadia ( ar, هبه سعدية , Hība Saʿadiyya, also ''Saadieh'') is a Palestinian association football referee. Early life Heba Saadia was born to Palestinian parents in Yarmouk Camp, a Palestinian refugee community, in Damascus, Syria. She started playing football with aspirations to play for the Palestine national team, and studied physical education from Damascus University. Career She became a referee after she was unable to move forward in her career as a player. Saadia considered refereeing when she saw a group of referees with no women and, after inquiring about the lack, the group suggested she join. In Syria, she was a fourth official in league matches; having to flee Syria when the civil war broke out, she relocated first to Malaysia and then to Sweden, living in Stockholm, where she got her FIFA referee license. Yarmouk Camp
Yarmouk ( ar, مُخَيَّم ٱلْيَرْمُوْك / ALA-LC: ', ) is a district of the city of Damascus, populated by Palestinians, with hospitals and schools. It is located from the center of Damascus and within municipal boundaries (but not initially when established in 1957). Yarmouk is an "unofficial" refugee camp. Now depopulated, it was home to the largest Palestinian refugee community in Syria. As of June 2002, there were 112,550 registered refugees living in Yarmouk. During the Syrian Civil War, Yarmouk camp became the scene of intense fighting in 2012 between the Free Syrian Army and the PFLP-GC supported by Syrian Army government forces. The camp then was consequently taken over by various factions and was deprived of supplies, resulting in hunger, diseases and a high death rate, which caused many to leave.
