Heaven's Burning
''Heaven's Burning'' is a 1997 Australian crime film starring Russell Crowe and directed by Craig Lahiff. The film was released in Australia on 6 November 1997. It follows the adventures of an Australian crime scene getaway, getaway driver (Crowe) and a Japanese people, Japanese runaway bride (Youki Kudoh) on a road trip as they are pursued by both criminals and the police. This was Russell Crowe's last Australian film until 2014's ''The Water Diviner''. Plot Japanese bride Midori Takada (Youki Kudoh) arrives in Sydney with her new husband Yukio (Kenji Isomura). She believes her marriage is a mistake and uses the honeymoon as a means to escape. Colin O'Brien (Russell Crowe) is an experienced crime scene getaway, getaway driver. Craig Lahiff
Craig Lahiff (23 April 1947 – 2 February 2014) was an Australian film director. He grew up in the Adelaide suburb of Somerton Park, South Australia, Somerton Park and studied science at Adelaide University, then trained as a systems consultant before studying arts in film at Flinders University. He began working in the film industry on crews for movies such as ''Sunday Too Far Away'' and ''The Fourth Wish''.David Stratton, ''The Avocado Plantation: Boom and Bust in the Australian Film Industry'', Pan MacMillan, 1990 p242 After making a number of short films he directed ''Coda'' (1987) a TV movie about a serial killer. Film grain or granularity is the random optical texture of processed photographic film due to the presence of small particles of a metallic silver, or dye clouds, developed from silver halide that have received enough photons. David James Stratton (born 10 September 1939) is an English-Australian award-winning film critic, as both a journalist and interviewer, film historian and lecturer and television personality and producer. Life and career Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, in 1939, Stratton was sent to Hampshire to see out the war years with his grandmother, an avid filmgoer, where he was taken to the local cinemas regularly and saw a diverse range of movies. He attended Chafyn Grove School from 1948 to 1953 as a boarder. He saw his first foreign film at Bath in 1955—Italian romantic comedy ''Bread, Love and Dreams''.
