Heathenry, also termed Heathenism, contemporary Germanic Paganism, or Germanic Neopaganism, is a modern Pagan religion. Scholars of religious studies classify it as a new religious movement. The Band of Heathens are an American rock and roll band from Austin, Texas. The band was originally formed by Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist in 2005. History The three original principal songwriters - Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist - shared the bill at Momo's, an Austin club. Originally, each singer/songwriter performed his own set. However, they eventually started sharing the stage, and collaborating with bassist Seth Whitney. The Wednesday night series was billed as "The Good Time Supper Club". A misprint in a local paper billed the act as "The Heathens." Drummer John Chipman joined the band in 2007, and Keyboardist Trevor Nealon, who played in the studio during the recording of both "One Foot in the Ether" and "Top Hat Crown & the Clapmaster's Son", joined the touring unit in 2011. Heathen is an American thrash metal band originating from the San Francisco Bay Area, active from 1984 to 1993 and again from 2001 onwards. Despite never achieving commercial success, the band is often credited – alongside Exodus, Testament, Forbidden, Death Angel and Vio-lence – as one of the leaders of the Bay Area thrash metal scene of the mid-to-late 1980s, and they have gone through several line-up changes, leaving guitarist Lee Altus as the only constant member. The Heathens were an Americana, indie rock band hailing from the Orlando, Florida area. Their first album, '' Big White House'', was released by Post*Records in 2006. History The band formed at Austin Coffee & Film in Winter Park, Florida in early 2005. They earned an opening slot for Hank Williams III as part of the Anti-POP Music Festival at the Social in Orlando. Building momentum on the success and release of their first music video for the song "Stickin' Around," the video was accepted at the Los Angeles Film Fest in May 2006, where it played alongside the likes of other such notable artists as Beck, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The White Stripes, Nine Inch Nails, Death Cab for Cutie, The Go! ''Heathen'' (stylised as ''uǝɥʇɐǝɥ'') is the 23rd studio album by English musician David Bowie, originally released in Europe on 10 June 2002, and the following day in America. His first release through his own ISO label, it reunited Bowie with producer Tony Visconti for the two's first full-album collaboration since 1980. Recording took place at New York studios from August 2001 to January 2002 and featured guest musicians, including Dave Grohl and Pete Townshend.
