Heartsill Ragon
Heartsill Ragon (; March 20, 1885 – September 15, 1940) was a United States representative from Arkansas and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas. Education and career Born on March 20, 1885, in Dublin, (an unincorporated community in Cane Creek Township, Logan County), Arkansas, Ragon attended the common schools, Clarksville High School, the College of the Ozarks (now the University of the Ozarks) in Clarksville and graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He received a Bachelor of Laws in 1908 from the Washington and Lee University School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1908 and entered private practice in Clarksville, Arkansas from 1908 to 1923. He was a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1911 to 1913. The United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas (in case citations, W.D. Ark.) is a federal court in the Eighth Circuit (except for patent claims and claims against the U.S. government under the Tucker Act, which are appealed to the Federal Circuit). The District was established on March 3, 1851, with the division of the state into an Eastern and Western district. The U.S. Courthouse & Post Office in Texarkana is shared with the Eastern District of Texas, making it the sole federal courthouse located in two states and a location of two federal districts. Fayetteville () is the second-largest city in Arkansas, the county seat of Washington County, and the biggest city in Northwest Arkansas.
