Charley Chase
Charles Joseph Parrott (October 20, 1893 – June 20, 1940), known professionally as Charley Chase, was an American comedian, actor, screenwriter and film director. He worked for many pioneering comedy studios but is chiefly associated with producer Hal Roach. Chase was the elder brother of comedian/director James Parrott. Life and career Born Charles Joseph Parrott in Baltimore, Maryland, Charley Chase began performing in vaudeville as a teenager and started his career in films by working at the Christie Film Company in 1912. He then moved to Keystone Studios, where he began appearing in bit parts in the Mack Sennett films, including those of Charlie Chaplin. By 1915 he was playing juvenile leads in the Keystones, and directing some of the films as Charles Parrott. Abe Stern
Abe Stern (March 8, 1888 – July 12, 1951) was an American film producer. He produced 542 films between 1917 and 1929. He was a co-founder of Universal Studios. He was born in Fulda, Germany, and died in Los Angeles County, California. He was the brother of producer Julius Stern and the brother-in-law of Universal Studios co-founder Carl Laemmle. He was entombed at Home of Peace Cemetery. Bartine Burkett
Bartine Burkett Zane (February 9, 1898 – May 20, 1994) was an American film actress. Burkett was born in Robeline, Louisiana to John Norvel Burkett and Bana G. (Howe) Burkett. She had a brother, Arthur. She gained acting experience in productions of the Shreveport Dramatic Club. Burkett was engaged to be married, but her fiance, an American Expeditionary Forces officer, was killed in France in 1918. As early as 1914, Burkett worked as an extra in Famous Players-Lasky films. She progressed to feature roles by the end of that decade. She is best recalled for her silent comedies and her late-in-life appearances in sitcoms and TV commercials. She appeared in nearly sixty silent films before retiring upon her 1928 marriage to Ralph Leland Zane. Among her earliest co-stars and friends were Buster Keaton, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, Al St. John and Stan Laurel.
