Heart of Midlothian Women Football Club, commonly known as Hearts Women, is a Scottish women's association football club affiliated with the Edinburgh-based professional men's club, Heart of Midlothian. They are members of the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL), the highest level women's football league in Scotland, and currently compete in its top tier, SWPL 1. History In 2009 Hearts took over Musselburgh Windsor Ladies Football Club, changing their name to Hearts Ladies F.C. The name was changed once again in 2018, when the club became known as Hearts Women F.C. At the December 2018 AGM, Hearts owner Ann Budge announced a "six-figure investment year on year" into Hearts Women, alongside an expansion to their academy in order to integrate the women's team further into the club. Oriam is Scotland's national performance centre for sport, based at Heriot-Watt University's Riccarton campus in Edinburgh. The Scottish Rugby Union and the Scottish Football Association use it as a training facility, Heart of Midlothian F.C. rent the centre for first-team training and to run their academy. It is also used by other sports teams, students and members of the public. Brechin City F
Brechin (; gd, Breichin) is a city and former Royal burgh in Angus, Scotland. Traditionally Brechin was described as a city because of its cathedral and its status as the seat of a pre-Reformation Roman Catholic diocese (which continues today as an episcopal seat of the Scottish Episcopal Church), but that status has not been officially recognised in the modern era. Boroughmuir RFC is a rugby union football club in the Scottish Rugby Union. The club's home ground is Meggetland, in southwest Edinburgh and the club plays in the , where they are known as the Boroughmuir Bears. Founded in 1919 and admitted to the SRU in 1939, it was originally restricted to former pupils of Boroughmuir High School. The badge is derived from Boroughmuir High School and they acquired it in 1913. Although it has lost that direct connection, the home ground and navy blue/emerald colours are unchanged. The club won the Scottish unofficial club rugby championship in the 1954–55 and 1972–73 seasons. The club have the second longest number of seasons in the top division having only been relegated twice and on both occasions bouncing straight back up to the top division. Kathryn Elizabeth "Katie" Rood (born 2 September 1992) is a New Zealand professional footballer who currently plays for Hearts in Scottish Women's Premier League and the New Zealand national team. Club career Rood developed into a consistent goalscorer in her regional league for Glenfield Rovers and for Northern Football in the National Women's League. Vyan Sampson (born 2 July 1996) is a Jamaican professional footballer who plays as a defender for Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Women's Premier League for the Jamaica women's national team. Club career Sampson began her career in the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic before joining FA WSL 1 club Arsenal in 2011. Originally she played with the youth and reserve teams, where she won both domestic cups at reserve level and the League Cup with the Under-17s. Ciara Grant (born 11 June 1993) is an Irish physician and professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Heart of Midlothian of the Scottish Women's Premier League and for the Republic of Ireland national team. Grant has previously played for Raheny United, UCD Waves and Shelbourne of the Women's National League, and for Women's Premiership club Sion Swifts. Immediately prior to joining Hearts, Grant played for Rangers. In 2010, Grant was a member of the Republic of Ireland under-17 squad who were runners-up in the 2010 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship and quarter-finalists in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
