Bill Heaphy
William Loch Heaphy (18 December 1888 – 21 May 1914) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was from Tatura originally and went to Geelong College, but came to Essendon via West Melbourne, during the 1908 VFL season. Essendon Heaphy made his league debut in Essendon's round 18 win over Geelong at East Melbourne. His second appearance for Essendon was in the 1908 VFL Grand Final. He was the youngest player on the field, at 19 years of age, but not the least experienced, as teammate Harry Prout was making his debut. Essendon lost by nine points, with Heaphy playing in a forward pocket. He played three games with Essendon in the 1909 season, then transferred to Brunswick mid season and finished the year with another grand final appearance, this time finishing on the winning side. Charles Heaphy
Charles Heaphy VC (1820 – 3 August 1881) was an English-born New Zealand explorer and recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest military award for gallantry "in the face of the enemy" that could be awarded to British and Empire forces at the time. He was the first soldier of the New Zealand armed forces to be awarded the VC. He was also a noted artist of the colonial period who created watercolours and sketches of early settler life in New Zealand. Born in England, Heaphy joined the New Zealand Company in 1839. He arrived in New Zealand later that year and was commissioned to make a visual record of the company's work which was used to advertise the country to potential English migrants. Much of the next two and half years was spent travelling around New Zealand and executing paintings of the land and its inhabitants. Chris Heaphy is a New Zealand artist who is based in Auckland. His work explores cultural issues with a greater focus on the relationship between Maori and Pakeha due to the artist's background. Early life and education Chris Heaphy was born in 1965 and is of Ngāi Tahu and European descent. He graduated from the Ilam school of Fine Arts in Canterbury, New Zealand in 1991 where he studied towards a BFA. In 1998, Heaphy completed a MFA in painting at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Over the years, Heaphy was granted several awards and fellowships, including: the Te Waka Toi Grant (1993), the Olivia Spencer Bower Award (1995), the Research Grant Residency, the RMIT University (1998), the Creative New Zealand Grant (1999), and the Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin Residency, Champagne, France (2000–2001). Shawn Heaphy
Shawn M. Heaphy (born November 27, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who played in one National Hockey League game for the Calgary Flames during the 1992–93 NHL season. His sole game was played against the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he failed to register a point, but was credited with two shots on goal. Before the NHL, Heaphy played for the Michigan State Spartans. Timothy J. Heaphy (born 1964) is a white-collar criminal defense attorney, law professor and a former United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. He served as the lead investigator for the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack. Education and early career Heaphy was raised in a Maryland suburb of Washington D.C. He attended college at the University of Virginia where he played football. He is married to Lori Shinseki, the daughter of Eric Shinseki. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1986, Heaphy taught at a private school for a year and then joined the staff of Senator Joe Biden (D- Del.) Thomas Heaphy
Thomas Heaphy the Elder (1775–1835) was an English water-colour painter, known also for his portraits. Life Heaphy was born in London on 29 December 1775. His father, John Gerrard Heaphy, was a merchant of Irish background, with a French wife. Heaphy was articled at an early age to R. M. Meadows the engraver, and attended a drawing-school run by John Boyne near Queen Square, Bloomsbury. Heaphy was a successful painter. He devoted much of his fortune to developing land in the neighbourhood of what is now Regent's Park, and a portion of St. John's Wood owes its origin to him. This took him temporarily away from painting. He then established the Society of British Artists, of which he was elected the first president, and to its first exhibition, in 1824, contributed nine works, but he resigned his membership the following year.
