Smoking, Health And Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005
The Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005 (asp 13) is an Act of the Scottish Parliament passed in 2005, after being introduced by Scottish Executive Health minister Andy Kerr. The Act established that, from 26 March 2006, it would be an offence to smoke in any wholly or substantially enclosed public space in Scotland, with a small number of exceptions, such as: prisons, care homes and police interview rooms. Private member clubs were not exempted. Hotel rooms could be designated by the proprietors as smoking rooms, but they were under no obligation to do so, and if they did not, the Act applied to them as any other space. It passed on 30 June 2005 with an 83 to 15 vote, with only the Scottish Conservatives opposing, and received Royal Assent on 5 August 2005. The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (c 14) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Synopsis The Act was created on 11 March 2009 with the following regulated activities: * provision of health care to patients by a National Health Service (NHS) Trust or NHS Foundation Trust. * provision of ambulance services, for transporting patients for the purpose of treatment by a NHS Trust or a NHS Foundation Trust. * provision of health care to patients by a Primary Care Trust. * management of NHS Blood and Transplant, including: supply of blood, supply of stem cells and bone marrow, supply of tissues for transplant or grafting and also the Donor Organs including the matching and allocation. The Care Quality Commission has the responsibilities to ensure service providers are providing quality care when carrying on the regulated activities. The Health and Care Act is an Act of Parliament (UK), Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which is intended to dismantle many of the structures established by the Health and Social Care Act 2012. Many of the proposals were drafted under the leadership of Simon Stevens and are intended to reinforce the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan.
