''Head over Heels'' is a 2012 British stop motion animated short film written and directed by Timothy Reckart. The film was nominated for Best Animated Short Film for the 85th Academy Awards. It also won the first Annie Award for Best Student film and the Cartoon d'Or for Best European Animated Short. After being nominated for an Academy Award the film was released along with all the other 15 Oscar-nominated short films in theaters by ShortsHD. Timothy Reckart
Timothy Reckart is an American animator and director based in Los Angeles, specializing in puppet stop motion. He is best known for his 2012 film ''Head over Heels'', nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2013. Reckart grew up in Tucson, Arizona, where he attended University High School. He studied History and Literature at Harvard University where he graduated in 2009. He later attended the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, UK, where he graduated in 2012 from the Directing Animation course. Reckart is currently based in Los Angeles where he also does work in multiplane collage animation, digital 2D animation, and pixilation. Encounters Film Festival is a short film, animation and VR festival in Bristol, England. Based in Bristol, Encounters runs a six-day festival in September and its main venues are Watershed and Arnolfini, on Bristol’s harbourside.
