Haystack Mountain (Wyoming)
Haystack Mountain is an mountain summit located in Sublette County of Wyoming, United States. Geography The mile-long peak is situated in the remote Wind River Range, one mile west of the Continental Divide, and approximately four miles southeast of the Cirque of the Towers. It is set in the Bridger Wilderness, on land managed by Bridger-Teton National Forest. Topographic relief is significant as the northwest aspect rises nearly above Clear Lake in one-half mile. Neighbors include Schiestler Peak, 1.9 mile to the west, Big Sandy Mountain 1.5 mile north, and East Temple Peak 1.6 mile south. Access is via a half-day hike on the Big Sandy Trail. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains into headwaters of the Big Sandy River, which is a tributary of the Green River. The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain is a private, member owned club, which provides alpine skiing on Haystack Mountain in Wilmington, Vermont to its members. The ski area The ski area comprises three major sections: the lower mountain, upper mountain, and The Witches. The lower mountain is entirely beginner terrain. The upper mountain has intermediate and advanced terrain. The Witches is advanced terrain except for an intermediate run down the west (or “back”) side. Haystack Mountain is located in Wilmington, Vermont, and is part of the Green Mountains mountain range. It has a summit of 3,445 feet (1,049 m) and shares a ridgeline with neighboring Mt. Snow to the north. Haystack is “ mountain with a sharp summit cone and a broad, deep lake just under the precipitous peak. Mount Haystack
Mount Haystack is a mountain in the Great Range of the Adirondack High Peaks in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. It is the third highest peak in the state, after Algonquin Peak and Mount Marcy. It gets its name from the resemblance of its rounded, conical peak to a haystack. Despite this and the views offered from its bare, alpine summit, it is not visited by as many hikers outside aspiring members of the Adirondack Forty-Sixers; it is rather remote from the nearest trailhead and the approach from either direction is steep and challenging. The most frequent approach of Haystack as the main goal is to follow the ''Johns Brook Trail'' from the popular Garden parking area in Keene Valley to the ''Phelps Trail'' and then use ''Shorey's Short Cut'' to get over to the ''Range Trail''.
