Dick Haymes
Richard Benjamin Haymes (September 13, 1918 – March 28, 1980) was an Argentinian singer and actor. He was one of the most popular male vocalists of the 1940s and early 1950s. He was the older brother of Bob Haymes, an actor, television host, and songwriter. Background Haymes was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1918. His mother, who survived her elder son, was Marguerite Haymes (1894–1987), a well-known Irish-born vocal coach and instructor of English descent. His father, also of English descent, worked as a rancher. The Haymes family traveled extensively before settling in the United States when Haymes was an infant. Career At the age of 17, Haymes moved to Los Angeles where he initially worked as a stunt man and film double. Henry Evered Haymes
Captain and Bimbashi Henry Evered Haymes (17 March 1872 – 15 March 1904), was a British surgeon in the Royal Army Medical Corps, known chiefly for his service in Egypt and the Sudan. He was Senior Medical Officer and one of the original explorers of the Bahr-el-Ghazal region in what is now South Sudan, instrumental in containing a cholera pandemic in Alexandria in 1902, and later Inspector of the Bahr el Ghazal. Early life Henry Evered Haymes was born on 17 March 1872, the third son of the Rev. Robert Evered Haymes who was 17th in direct lineal descent from King Edward III. He was educated at Bedford Modern School, Oxford Military College and St Thomas's Hospital where he qualified as MRCS and LRCP in 1896. Joe Haymes
Joseph Lawrence Haymes (February 10, 1907 – July 10, 1964) was an American jazz bandleader and arranger. Life and career Born in Marshfield, Missouri, United States, Haymes relocated with his family to Springfield, Missouri, after his railroader father was killed in an accident. Joe attended Greenwood Laboratory School in Springfield and was a drummer in the local Boy Scout Band; as a youth he also learned the piano. Entering Drury College in 1926, he played locally with his own dance band, before being hired as arranger by Ted Weems in 1928 and leaving school. Haymes arranged the hit " Piccolo Pete", among many others, for Weems, setting a new, highly jazz-informed style for the orchestra. Haymes struck out on his own again in 1930, leading a band in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Billed as "a Ted Weems unit", Haymes continued to write Weems' arrangements. Jerry Haymes (born August 30, 1940 in Vernon, Texas) was raised in Clovis, New Mexico and has contributed to the body of rock 'n roll for over 50 years. Even prior to graduating from Clovis High, Jerry was recording at the famed Norman Petty Studios, a foreshadow of his career to come. After graduating from Clovis High School, Jerry attended the Abilene Christian University, Southern Methodist University, and Kilgore College. He also spent time studying at the London Conservatory of Music. He was childhood friends with Roy Orbison, who he worked with on a professional level. This led Haymes to Sun Records where he was an original Sun Legends Musician and Singer (with Roy Orbison Over the years he has performed on many chart hits, and although some of his own records charted , the top spot eluded him. Bruce Haymes
Bruce Geoffrey Haymes is an Australian musician. Since 1976 Haymes has been a member of numerous bands including Avalanche (1978), Richard Clapton Band (1979), Russell Morris and the Rubes (1980–83) and Bachelors from Prague (1985–93). He joined Paul Kelly's Band (1995–97) and was also in Kelly's next group, Professor Ratbaggy (1999–2002). In 1997 he was part of the Singers for the Red Black & Gold, which released a cover version of " Yil Lull" (1998). It was nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Indigenous Release. Along with Kelly, Shane O'Mara and fellow members of Professor Ratbaggy, Haymes performed and co-wrote the soundtrack for the feature film, ''Lantana'' (2001). For this work he won the ARIA Award for Best Original Soundtrack Album in 2002.
